C*4 Presents GO! Capital City Championship Combat returns to the Preston Event Centre in Little Italy, Ottawa for their first event of 2023. The promotion is riding an incredible wave of momentum since returning from a COVID-19 pandemic-hiatus and is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down in the new year.
C*4’s last event, November 18th’s Deep Rising was a killer card headlined by Kevin Blackwood successfully defending his C*4 Title against Jonathan Gresham. Alongside The Aesthetic Crippler, Violence Is Forever and Joshua Bishop both enter 2023 with the C*4 Tag Team and C*4 Underground Championships around their respective waists.

Snowball Scramble Match
Gabriel Fuerza vs. Sway Archer vs. Cecil Nyx vs. Yayne Harrison vs. Zak Patterson vs. Kobe Durst
Any C*4 card would not be complete without an outlandishly fun multi-person bout. This six-person outing brings together former C*4 Champions and newcomers alike, with the field consisting of Gabriel Fuerza, Sway Archer, Cecil Nyx, Yayne Harrison, Zak Patterson and Kobe Durst.
Fuerza has nothing to lose and will likely be gunning for Nyx, who played a part in splitting up Fight Or Flight a few short months ago. Kobe Durst may be the odds-on favourite on paper. The matchup also presents an opportunity to Archer, Harrison and Patterson to make a statement and take a step towards title contention in C*4. Regardless of the outcome, this one will bring the Preston Event Centre to their feet.

Open Contract
Isaiah Broner vs. ???
Isaiah Broner has done nothing but win over the C*4 faithful since making his debut at October’s Season of the Witch. The man known as “The Problem” made short work Mikey Thunder, and later Jeff Fury at Deep Rising. It remains to be seen if Broner will once again hardly break a sweat, or if a worthy opponent will step up.

Trios Match
Puf, Pretty Ricky, & Sexxxy Eddy vs. Kristara, Alex Maze, & Space Monkey
Another multi-person match, this time trios as opposed to scramble, will see the C*4-regular team of Puf, Pretty Ricky and Sexxxy Eddy take on the unorthodox alliance of Kristara, Alex Maze and Space Monkey. Despite coming off as a less-serious team, Puf, Ricky and Eddy are often able to come out with a win by night’s end.
Space Monkey hasn’t competed in C*4 since recording two losses in 2021 after the “banana incident” (if you know, you know). Maze and Kristara came up short in October’s Double Impact TAG Memorial Tournament, falling to Fight Or Flight in the quarter finals.
C*4 Presents GO!
Joseline Navarro vs. Alexia Nicole
Arguably C*4’s most popular female star, Alexia Nicole (perhaps alongside LuFisto) is set to take on Joseline Navarro for the first time ever. Navarro scored a win over Cecil Nyx back at City On Fire, a man who Nicole has tagged with on multiple occasions. Nicole is also riding the momentum of a Street Fight victory over Gabriel Fuerza in her last outing.
C*4 Presents GO!
Buxx Belmar & Junior Benito vs. T.D.T. w/ Twiggy
The unlikely alliance of Buxx Belmar and Junior Benito have challenged Le Tabarnak De Team to show up Friday night, insisting their suspensions be lifted. Back at Deep Rising, TDT, accompanied by former C*4 Champion Twiggy, made their return and jumped Belmar, Benito and Stu Grayson during their highly anticipated three-way match, leading to a no-contest, much to the dismay of those in attendance.
C*4 Presents GO!
Vanessa Kraven & James Stone vs. LuFisto & C*4 Underground Champion Joshua Bishop
Last month at Deep Rising, LuFisto managed to pull out a win over James Stone. Afterwards Stone and Vanessa Kraven assaulted LuFisto, leading her to request this bout at C*4 GO!. The Wounded Owl has recruited none other than reigning C*4 Underground Champion Joshua Bishop in her quest for revenge on The Scrapper and The Mountain.
Will LuFisto be successful, or will Stone and Kraven reign supreme and perhaps target the C*4 Underground Champion next?
C*4 Presents GO!
Ortiz vs. Myung-Jae Lee
All Elite Wrestling star Ortiz is set to make his C*4 return for the first time in nearly four years. The former Inner Circle member last competed at C*4’s Undisputed event, tagging with Proud & Powerful (then known as Latin American Exchange) partner Santana.
Since then, Ortiz has competed on the biggest stage there is in AEW, recently teaming with Eddie Kingston as Santana recovers from a knee injury. Across the ring from Ortiz is Myung-Jae Lee, one of C*4’s brightest up and coming stars who’s undoubtedly looking to make a statement at Ortiz’s expense.
C*4 Presents GO!
Double Tag Team Championship Match for the C*4 & IWTV Tag Team Championships
Violence Is Forever (c) vs. Hawkestepper
A double Tag Team Championship match will see Violence Is Forever defend both their C*4 and IWTV Tag Team Titles against Hakestepper. The Hotstepper Macrae Martin and Shayne Hawke defeated VIF’s Dominic Garrini and Chase Oliver, who subbed in for VIF’s Kevin Ku due to travel issues caused by a Buffalo snowstorm.
Ku and Garrini recently became the first ever IWTV Tag Team Champions, and this will be their first defense of those straps. VIF won the C*4 Tag Team Championships from LuFisto and Mathieu St-Jacques back at March 2022’s Fantastic Voyage.
C*4 Presents GO!
C*4 Championship Match
Kevin Blackwood (c) vs. Stu Grayson
Kevin Blackwood is set to put his C*4 Championship on the line against Stu Grayson. The Aesthetic Crippler meets Born And Bred For Combat. According to the promotion, Grayson requested this title based on his 2022 record. In that calendar year, Grayson managed to score major wins over the likes of Alex Zayne, Tony Deppen, AKIRA and both Benjamin Tull and Joshua Bishop in a three-way. His one and only loss came at the hands of Eddie Kingston.
Blackwood won the title from Speedball Mike Bailey back at City On Fire, that match being a title unification match with Blackwood’s C*4 Underground Championship also on the line (he since vacated the Underground Championship to allow others to compete for it). Blackwood made his first successful title defense at Deep Rising over Jonathan Gresham.
In a Friday update via Facebook, C*4 announced this match will kick-off C*4 GO! due to travel considerations for Blackwood.
This C*4 Championship match could rank amongst the all-time greats. Based on competitors alone, it could be a strong contender for C*4’s match of the year, and yes, I know it’s only January.
