AEW Revolution 2021 Preview

It is time for AEW Revolution 2021! AEW has done an excellent job of building this card in recent months. We will have Sting wrestling his first match in six years. There will have a surprise entrant in the Ladder match. We will even have an Exploding Barb Wire Death Match. What will happen on a crazy night in Jacksonville? Let us find out!

Dr. Britt Baker & Rebel vs. Riho & Thunder Rosa
(Buy-In Pre-Show Match)

This pre-show match-up is another step in the improving women’s division. Britt Baker, Riho, and Thunder Rosa were all semifinalists in the excellent AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament USA Bracket. They will get a chance to shine in the Buy-In match.

Thunder Rosa and Riho faced off in the semifinals of the tournament in an excellent match. But they haven’t teamed together in All Elite Wrestling. Can they overcome what will surely be the underhanded tactics of Rebel and the Dentist?

Miro and Kip Sabian vs. Chuck Taylor and Orange Cassidy

The “Best Man” gimmick certainly has been a mixed bag over the recent months. Miro and Sabian have feuded with Taylor/Cassidy over video games for quite a long time. It has been some strange booking, to say the least. Can Miro be booked as a dominant monster again? It could all start at AEW Revolution.

Orange Cassidy seemed like he was on the verge of being a huge star after defeating Chris Jericho in a Mimosa Mayhem Match at AEW All Out 2020. But he has seemed an afterthought in this feud. Can the laziest man in pro wrestling get back on track too? Both teams have a lot to gain on Sunday night.

Casino Tag Team Battle Royale:
Pac & Rey Fenix, John Silver & Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno & Stu Grayson, Private Party, The Butcher & The Blade, Luchasaurus & Jungle Boy, Varsity Blonds, Santana & Ortiz, Top Flight, Bear Country, SCU, Gunn Club, and more!

As usual, the AEW Tag Team Division is the strongest part of the AEW roster. They have many teams looking for an opportunity to break out and win a future AEW World Tag Team Championship shot. Who will get a shot at the title on Sunday night? It is really anyone’s Battle Royale. And another question is, what surprise teams will we see in this Casino Tag Battle Royale? It should be another fun showcase for the best Tag Team Division in professional wrestling.

Face of the Revolution Ladder Match:
Cody Rhodes, Penta El Zero, Scorpio Sky, Lance Archer, Max Caster, and?
(Winner Gets a Future TNT Championship Match)

It is time for another ladder match! The winner must grab a literal brass ring and gain a future TNT Championship match. The stakes are high for this exhilarating match.

We have quite a mix of wrestlers in this match. Will Cody get back into the TNT title picture? Can Max Caster pull off the biggest win of his career? Will a Murderhawk be destroying everyone? We have a lot of questions heading into this ladder match. And we have one more big question is who will be the mystery competitor. This could be a show stealer on Sunday night.

AEW Revolution 2021
Hikaru Shida (c) vs. Ryo Mizunami
(AEW Women’s World Championship)

The 16 women AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Tournament was a lot of fun. We have wrestlers from Japan and the United States fighting in some great matches on AEW Dynamite and Youtube. In a big surprise, Ryo Mizunami won the entire tournament. She only had one match on AEW programming before this tournament, and now she gets a title shot at AEW Revolution. Very impressive.

That leads to a lot of unknowns heading into this AEW Women’s World Championship match. Shida hasn’t had a lot of matches on AEW programming recently. Can she overcome a hot Mizunami coming in with a four-match winning streak? It may not have a lot of build for this match-up, but it will be a lot of fun on Sunday night.

Matt Hardy vs. “Hangman” Adam Page
(First Quarter Earnings Match)

This match has a good build over the recent months. Matt Hardy offered friendship to a lonely Hangman Page. Or at least it seems so until Hardy attempted to take a huge amount of Page’s future earnings. But Page did the Ole’ Switcheroo on the contract instead to get a match against Matt Hardy at AEW Revolution.

The match will be for the first-quarter earnings of the loser. Will Matt Hardy use Private Party to pull off the victory? And will Dark Order help Hangman Page to victory despite his requests to go it alone? A lot of money is on the line at AEW Revolution.

The Young Bucks (c) vs. Chris Jericho and MJF
(AEW Tag Team Championship)

Chris Jericho and MJF have risked everything to gain an AEW Tag Team Championship. In winning the Battle Royale to earn this shot, they cost Sammy Guevara a chance at the AEW Tag Team Championship. That was one of the final straws for Sammy Guevara, who left the Inner Circle. Chris Jericho and MJF followed up their victory by making this match very personal as well. They brutally attacked “Papa Buck” on a recent AEW Dynamite. It is payback time for the Young Bucks.

We should expect a good match at AEW Revolution. With the Young Bucks involved, you can expect some tag-team fun. And the big question is: will Sammy Guevara interfere in this match? If he does, it could set up some Inner Circle feuds for months to come.

Sting & Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage & Ricky Starks set for AEW Revolution

AEW Revolution 2021
Brian Cage and Ricky Starks vs. Sting and Darby Allin
(Street Fight)

It is time for Sting! He returns to a professional wrestling ring for the first time in nearly six years. And he is going right into a Street Fight against the dangerous Team Taz. I am sure all wrestling fans will be holding their collective breath as the 61-year-old Sting takes bumps in the street fight on Sunday night.

The fight will certainly be brutal. We know Darby Allin will take some crazy bump for sure. Will Sting and Darby be able to overcome the brutal Team Taz? It will be hard to watch for sure.

Kenny Omega reveals rules for the Exploding Barbed-Wire Death Match

AEW Revolution 2021
Kenny Omega (c) vs. Jon Moxley
(AEW World Championship Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match)

I can’t say any of us expected to see an Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match in 2021 on an American pay-per-view. The videos I have seen of these style of matches in FMW were really uncomfortable to watch. How will a match like this look in an AEW ring?

This match really seems up Jon Moxley’s alley. He has loved some violence in other matches over the years. But a match that has explosions and barb wire is a whole another level. Who will be the winner of this brutal match? It is hard to say, but we just want everyone to be safe. Please.
