AEW Rampage Preview for 1/7/22 (No DQ No Rules Match)

On Friday, January 7th, the first AEW Rampage of 2022 is set to take place as we present the AEW Rampage Preview for 1/7/22. The one-hour program features four matches instead of the usual three for this week’s edition. Fans will be witnesses to the newly acquired Jake Atlas facing Adam Cole. Rampage will also include a tag team match, a six-man tag team match, and the return of the rising cult fan favorite. Will this be a case where Riho and Ruby Soho will seek revenge against Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter? And will Daniel Garcia & 2point0 get the better of Eddie Kingston, Santana, and Ortiz?

Also, will this be the night where Aaron can safely say stretch me if I can, or HOOK claims to stretch him because he could?

Adam Cole vs. Jake Atlas

This match came about as a result of a challenge on this past week’s edition of Rampage. During a backstage segment with reDRagon and Adam Cole, Cole offered a challenge to the ‘newly signed’ Jake Atlas. During this segment, Cole said that when he is finished with Atlas, he would send him ‘back to Orlando’. .’at statement is just another reminder of Atlas’ time as part of the WWE’s NXT brand. It is also no secret that Cole himself happened to spend some time in Orland, too funny enough.

This will mark the first recorded match ever between Atlas and Cole despite working for the WWE previously.

Dr. Britt Baker & Jamie Hayter vs. Riho & Ruby Soho

After losing in the AEW TBS Championship tournament, Soho was taking part in a backstage segment when she was interrupted by Britt Baker, Rebel, and Jamie Hayter. Already frustrated by her loss earlier, Soho’s temper was short as Baker and company were relentless in their berating of the AEW TBS Championship finalist. This led to a fight taking place, and rather than simply sitting idle former AEW Women’s champion and current top contender for the title, Riho would come to the aid of Soho.

While Soho’s intentions were good, she was being restrained by officials while Soho was still being attacked. Does Riho use this match to send a message for their matchup the following night?

No Holds Barred.
Daniel Garcia & 2point0 vs. Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz

The ongoing feud between these six men has grown. From it initially starting off as an issue between Kingston and Garcia & 2point0 has morphed to include Santana and Ortiz as well. Fans are fully aware of the history of Ortiz, Santana, and Kingston during their time in IMPACT. This matchup rekindles their time together there and makes it prominent here for AEW. How will the always entertaining 2point0 and fast-rising Daniel Garcia do in this six-man tag?

Could we see Garcia once again pick up the win against Red Death, Daniel Garcia, and 2point0? Or will we see the Pride and Powerful nature of Santana and Ortiz be all that is needed to put this one over for their team? Also, will Chris Jericho play a role in this match as well?

HOOK (shown on the left) faces Aaron Solo (shown on the right) with QT Marshall [Photo: AEW]

HOOK vs. Aaron Solo

On this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, QT Marshall and Aaron Solo of The Factory addressed HOOK along with his father, Taz. Among the most notable statements made by Solo was a spin on Taz’s ‘beat me if you can, survive if I let you.’ Solo in jest said, ‘stretch if you can, survive if I let you.’ To that, HOOK could easily put that on a t-shirt, saying, ‘I stretched you because I could, and you didn’t survive.

It could be far more of a stretch to believe that that could happen. What isn’t likely a stretch is that this match is sure to continue to build on the allure of HOOK in AEW. What is interesting about this booking is that it presents a heel against a heel contest. It typically isn’t done, but with HOOK’s rising popularity, he is sure to generate a reaction.

What To Expect

  • Leyla Hirsch & Kris Statlander have another confrontation
  • Update on the status of Rey Fenix’s injury
