AEW Rampage for 1/14/22 (AEW Tag Team Championship)

On Friday, January 14th, AEW Rampage for 1/14/22 appears to be ramping up a couple of different feuds in the brand. First, the program will have a special look a the history between Thunder Rosa and Mercedes Martinez. What was their rivalry like prior to their time in AEW? Has Martinez’s arrival opened the door to renewing hostilities?

A second feud that is catching fire is between Best Friends and the Super Kliq…Era? This feud appears to involve two key members of both factions facing off with one another. With these particular matches on tap, fans can expect to see the arrival of a former IMPACT Wrestling talent and a six-woman tag team match where one team is on the verge of imploding. Fans can watch this on FITE TV or on TBS as we preview AEW Rampage for 1/14/22.

8. Eight is the number of times these two have crossed paths before this impending next match between the two women. Whether it was Shine, SHIMMER, or Warrior Wrestling, Rosa and Martinez battled one another time and time again. With each match, there was often something at stake. Either tag team or singles titles were often what often drew these two women together.

So it should be no surprise that with the AEW TBS Championship in the sights of Thunder Rosa that it would be none other than Mercedes Martinez that would halt that chance to win.

Shawn Spears vs. Andrew Everett

On the heels of this past week’s edition of AEW Dynamite, Shawn Spears steps into the ring. The Chairman steps in the ring to face former IMPACT Wrestling talent Andrew Everett. Everett, a fourteen-year pro, will provide an excellent challenge for Spears. However, if the image above is any indication, will Wardlow play a part in this match or its outcome?

With tensions likely still high this past week with Wardlow and MJF, will Spears be distracted by his Pinnacle teammates or be able to focus outright on the former co-holder of the IMPACT Tag Team Championships?

This past week on AEW Dynamite, during a backstage segment, we heard about the match listed above. Fans are well aware of the duo of Penelope Ford and The Bunny and how they recently engaged in a hardcore battle against Anna Jay and Tay Conti. This match, however, will pit one team that is on the same page with one team that appears to be in different chapters.

Statlander and Hirsch appear to be at odds with one another, with Red Velvet trying to be the peacemaker between the two. Will Velvet be able to ensure her team is focused on the task at hand or face the consequences of the Native Beast, Ford, and The Bunny?

Is it all about the BOOM? That is the question Trent Beretta will be answered as he steps into the ring against Adam Cole. On this past week’s edition of Dynamite, fans saw how both Best Friends and the Super Kliq would come to blows. For Trent, this match will not only be key for his own success but will likely give Best Friends bragging rights against Cole and the rest of his squad.

There are too many variables not shown in the graphic for fans not to think others will play a role in the match and its outcome.

If readers were watching this past week’s edition of Dynamite, then they are likely to have seen how this match came about. During a backstage interview with Christian Cage showing his pride in his young mentees, Silver and Reynolds would interrupt and challenge the champions for a shot at the titles this week.

A week removed from capturing the titles, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus are immediately thrust into the fire as the tag team division clearly has their peddle to the metal as they face the Dark Order. This opportunity has been a long time coming for Reynolds and Silver, who are sure to put their best foot forward this week.

What To Expect

  • Britt Baker & Kris Statlander have a confrontation
  • The Young Bucks are further conflicted in working alongside reDRagon
  • Jade Cargill to threats to the AEW TBS Championship.
