On the upcoming edition of AEW Rampage for 02/03/23, four matches are slated to take place, with one involving the AEW Trios Champions special. The matches include; a tag team matches, two singles matches and a trios contest. On the heels of a fun and arguably the best Dynamite of 2023 to date, Rampage appears to have intriguing matches as well.

RUSH vs. Christopher Daniels

Coming off the heels of accepting a briefcase from MJF, Rush will battle former Ring of Honor World Champion, Christopher Daniels. While Daniels role is more of that as a producer and aid to talent backstage, he is still able to put it all together when it comes to a match.

On this occasion, Daniels battles someone that is on the cusp of ending Bryan Danielson’s pursuit of the AEW World Heavyweight Championship. RUSH with Jose the Assistant by his side appear to not only rebuilding La Faccion brick by brick but are willing to take out anyone that steps in their way.

Will the Fallen Angel prove to be another victim looking to stand in RUSH’s way hoping to reach to the top in AEW?

Swerve Strickland with Mogal Enterprises vs. Brian Pillman Jr.

As Strickland appears to be rising in popularity so has the support of his aids, Parker Boudreaux and the still unnamed associate with him. But with that alliance appears to come the end of another one. As Pillman Jr tries to find his place in AEW he appears to be doing it alone.

With the Varsity Blonds all but disbanded what will Pillman Jr’s place be now moving forward? He will have to prove himself as being more than simply a good hand here as he faces the man that put Keith Lee on the shelf. Could we finally see Lee make his return looking to wipe out not only Strickland but all of Mogal Enterprises?

If there was a time where it seems like it would be best suited to happen now would be that time.

Saraya and Toni Storm in Tag Team Action

The turn that took place with these two seemed like the right fit. The response they were receiving by those in attendance was lacklustre at best. So while they capable of being beloved faces they are also capable of being despised heels. Fans of Toni Storm from her time in the UK will note how convincing she could be a heel.

Storm’s time in NXT also saw her play the role of heel equally convincingly. In the case of Saraya we have seen her heel runs in particular in the WWE. From her rivalry with Charlotte Flair to her allegiance with Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville.

But in AEW both Storm and Saraya have managed to capitalize on being jeered with the increase in cheers for Dr. Britt Baker and AEW Women’s Champion, Jamie Hayter.

The Elite (c) vs. The Firm’s Ethan Page, Matt Hardy and Isiah Kassidy

While the Elite appear to returning to their more heel-like personas, Stokely Hathaway’s trio appears to be the more conflicted of the two teams. With the absence of Jeff Hardy, it appears as though Matt Hardy’s role is that of support system and will backup Ethan Page rather than fight him.

In the case of Kassidy, its unusual to see him not work alongside Marq Quen but this could further show how he is begrudingly with Ethan Page. We have heard him share his displeasure of being aligned with The Firm and this match could only further it. All the while, Matt Hardy is trying to endear himself to Page while trying to have Isiah Kassidy try and control his emotions.

Does this match for The Elite prove to be one where they can capitalize on the Firm’s decention?

What to Expect:

  • Fallout from the Jon Moxley and Hangman Page match
  • Bryan Danielson to address his upcoming match with RUSH
  • Darby Allin addresses losing the TNT Championship and Samoa Joe addresses recapturing the title
