AEW Rampage for 01/20/23 (Perry BATTLES Page)

On the upcoming edition of AEW Rampage for 01/20/23, four matches are slated to take place, with an interview with a beloved fan favorite on the AEW roster. The matches include a tag team match and three singles matches. On the heels of a fun and exciting Dynamite, Rampage appears to have intriguing matches.

A few days removed from AEW, remembering the passing of Jay Briscoe, one can hope that this show would equally be something to be proud of. Here is the preview for AEW Rampage for 01/20/23.

We Hear from Eddie Kingston

Last week we saw Ortiz and Kingston face and lose to the Kings of the Black Throne. After the match, the arguing between Ortiz and Kingston continued, and the team lost. In his opportunity to share what is on his mind, what exactly will Eddie Kingston share? Will what he shares have anything to do with including Ortiz as his partner?

What will it take for them to be on the same page? Is this a sign that the reunion with Santana, who has been injured is on the horizon?

Brian Cage with Prince Nana vs. Willie Mack

Fans have seen these two face each other in different environments, but now they have the opportunity to face each other in AEW. Willie Mack and Brian Cage have a history with one another. It is that history that lends itself to some special exchanges between the two men. This is the second time they have faced each other in AEW.

What is interesting to note is that it is also Mack’s second match ever in AEW. At 36 years of age, Mack is nearly a twenty-year veteran of the ring. Fans of AEW are aware of Brian Cage and all he can do. But are they aware of what Willie Mack do? Fan’s will be quite pleased with what ‘Chocolate Thunder’ can do between the ropes.

Ethan Page vs. ‘Jungle Boy’ Jack Perry

The ongoing rivalry between The Firm and Jungle Boy continues with the booking of this match. But rather than it being Big Bill and Lee Moriarty trying to bury Perry, it is Ethan Page’s turn to try. While Page will have Stokely Hathaway easily in his corner, will Perry be alone?

We have recently seen the alliance of the tandem JungleHOOK but will he be there? As its been the case with Jungle Boy recently or HOOK, come to the aid of one another when they are being outnumbered. But with the number of those tied to The Firm, it’s hard to think the odds will ever be even.

Could we see others involved in this rivalry between them?

TBS Champion Jade Cargill and Leila Grey in Action

As of this writing, it hasn’t been announced who will be facing this duo, but whomever it is, one has to wonder if a current baddie and a former baddie may be a part of it. Red Velvet has seemed to grow tired of Cargill, and that all seems to have stemmed from the departure of Kiera Hogan.

Once Hogan, an original baddie, was ousted from the group, it seemed like a divide began to form within the group. It has always been all about Jade. But what went from fear and a sense of need to be accepted by Jade has turned to ‘i’m tired of Jade and her sh*t’. This seems to be where Velvet has been.

Could Leila Grey be far behind or is she solidly behind Cargill?

Daniel Garcia vs. Action Andretti

While the match isn’t what is amusing, it would have to be Chris Jericho’s nickname for one of the men involved. Jericho often refers to Andretti as an orphan, which just seems so odd. Unless he knows something about his parents and that they either left him somewhere or that they abandoned him, its unclear how that all came about.

One theory could be the belief that he is without a ‘home’ in that he isn’t officially part of the AEW roster, but that isn’t the quite the case. Andretti, along with Ricky Starks, have been embroiled in a feud that clearly outnumbers the pair 6 to 2. If we consider Anna Jay and Tay Melo’s involvement, it’s 8 to 2.

Sammy Guevara said that if Daniel Garcia could defeat Action Andretti that he could easily take his spot in the tag match on AEW Dynamite the following week. Will Daniel Garcia do what Chris Jericho couldn’t? If for anything, only to see the name “Jericia” used as the pairing of Chris Jericho and Daniel Garcia.

What To Expect:

  • Further discussion of the upcoming ‘Therapy Session’ bringing The Gunns and The Acclaimed together with Billy Gunn.
  • What happened with Saraya and Toni Storm this past week? Are these signs of a heel turn?
  • Further, build to Bryan Danielson and MJF for the AEW World Heavyweight Championship
