AEW Rampage for 01/13/23 (EVERYBODY LOVES THE ACCLAIMED)

On the upcoming edition of AEW Rampage for 01/13/23, three matches are slated to take place, with a special moment expected to take place for the AEW Tag Team Champions. The matches include two tag team matches and one championship contest. On the heels of a fun and exciting Dynamite, Rampage appears to have intriguing matches.

Whether it’s who is involved or the stipulations presented to the match, this show on paper looks like a fun one. With so much happening here, there is a lot to process and feuds to try and have flushed out more. Here is the preview for AEW Rampage for 01/06/23

We Hear From AEW’s Tag Team Champions, The Acclaimed

During their backstage interview with Daddy A**, Platinum Max Castor and Anthony Bowens shared that in coming to Rampage, they are also going to be awarded a special distinction. That distinction is that the duo will earn a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. To immortalize this duo this way is fun.

But when you realize that you can actually pay for a star on the walk of fame, it does lose a bit of luster. Will anyone interject themselves here in The Acclaimed’s attempts at getting their star? We have seen them put the duo of Jarrett and Lethal behind them. Who is next in line to challenge the Acclaimed for the AEW World Tag Team Titles?

Street Fight
Tay Melo & Anna J.A.S vs. Ruby Soho & Willow Nightingale

These four have faced each other in the past. That match saw Jericho Appreciation Society members Tay and Anna come out victorious. In the same way that Ruby Soho was previously injured, this time saw, she fell victim the same way. But with a street fight, all bets are off.

What fans will see is that when pushed into a corner, Willow will push back and push back HARD. This battle should present closure. But how will it happen? We have seen an absolute bloodbath when the likes of The Bunny and Penelope Ford were in a match. Can we expect blood and guts here with these four?

Eddie Kingston & Ortiz vs. Kings of the Black Throne (Malakai Black & Brody King) with Julia Hart

Once the thickest of thieves, Ortiz and Kingston appear that they aren’t on the same page. While Kingston said repeatedly during Dynamite that Ortiz wanted this match, and now it’s here. Is this a matter of being careful what you wish for that you just might get it? We know what all four of these men are capable of doing.

But with tension apparent on one side, the question is, can Ortiz and Kingston once again find that continuity among them that made them so successful? They were never ones to back down to a fight, and this match here is no different. Black and King have an opportunity to make a statement here.

For the Kings of the Black Throne, one has to think if this becomes a stepping stone to moving them into either the tag team or trios titles contention.

TNT Championship
Darby Allin (c) with Samoa Joe vs. Juice Robinson

One of the criticisms AEW faces is that of cold booking. While it is valid in some cases, here doesn’t need to be one of those instances. ‘Rock Hard’ Juice Robinson is an internationally traveled talent that has held countless titles. Now, as part of AEW, he walks in an established star in Japan and one that is unlike ‘CJ Parker’ that called America home nearly eight years ago.

On this past week’s edition of Dynamite, Robinson answered Darby Allin’s open challenge backstage with Renee Paquette. The moment he said Darby’s name, fans in attendance were certain that Allin would face his newest threat for the TNT Championship. Regardless of the match result, it is sure to be a stellar contest from bell to bell.

What To Expect:

  • Discussion of what took place on Dynamite with Shida inadvertently costing Saraya and Storm
  • An update on the status of Jon Moxley
  • The Elite address their winning of the AEW Trios Championship
  • Reaction to the return of Adam Cole on AEW Dynamite
