AEW IGNITE for 8/5/20 (Moxley vs Allin) | Preview

Welcome to the latest edition of AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 8/5/20! AEW is getting closer to the “AEW All Out” pay-per-view and the card is starting to take some shape. Last week provided another shocking debut and some truly surprising match results. The show also had an amazing promo from MJF. What will this week’s show have in store for us? We do get a World Title match.

Proud-N-Powerful (Santana & Ortiz) vs. The Best Friends (Chuck Taylor & Trent)

It is time for a tag team grudge match. The Best Friends were on the winning side of a ten man tag team match last week against the Inner Circle. The Inner Circle has been embarrassed by Orange Cassidy on multiple occasions in recent weeks. This is a real chance to exact some revenge against his Best Friends.

While the Best Friends have been on quite a roll in recent months, only losing one tag team match, that has not been the case for Santana and Ortiz. After returning from a long break during the Pandemic, they have lost a majority of their matches on Dynamite and Dark. Can they get back on track against the red hot Best Friends? We know Chris Jericho would truly appreciate it.

TNT Champion Cody & Matt Cardona w/ Arn Anderson vs. The Dark Order (Jon Silver & Alex Reynolds)

It was a shock to see Matt Cardona, the long time WWE veteran, make his AEW debut and save his real life friend Cody last week from The Dark Order’s post-match attack. You only get one debut match in a promotion and Cardona’s will be getting his Wednesday night on AEW Dynamite in a tag match.

This match raises a lot of interesting questions. Why did the Dark Order attack Cody last week? Why didn’t the Elite save Cody last week? Does Cardona have his eyes on Cody’s TNT Championship? It is hard to say. But it should be a good showcase for Cardona along with Silver and Reynolds on such a big stage.

MJF Updates His Campaign

MJF gave an excellent, campaign style promo last week on Dynamite. The main argument he gave was that AEW Champion Jon Moxley or “Dictator Jon” was an unworthy leader or Champion for the company going forward. MJF believes that the AEW fans “deserve better”. We shall see.

What does MJF have in store for his update on Wednesday night? We know that he now has his AEW Title shot at the AEW All Out pay-per-view on September 5th. He will have to wait to see the result of the AEW Championship match on Wednesday night. Can MJF top his great mic work from last week? The campaign for a better champion seems to be off to an entertaining start.

AEW IGNITE for 8/5/20

FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Hardwood) and The Elite (Hangman Page, Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson) vs. The Dark Order (Mr. Brodie Lee, Colt Cabana, Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, Five, & Nine)

This will be quite chaotic. Last week, Evil Uno and Stu Grayson lost the AEW Tag Team titles but proceeded to gang up with the rest of the Dark Order to attack Kenny Omega and Hangman Page after the match. If it wasn’t for the Young Bucks and FTR, they might have been taken out for a long time.

The problem for this match is FTR and The Elite have not been on the same page. All six of them have been having some conflicts with each other over recent weeks. Can these six possibilities keep it together against the united Dark Order? It is truly hard to say.

The Great Debate: Orange Cassidy and Jericho w/ Mystery Moderator

It is 2020 and a United States Presidential Election Year, we might as well have a debate on AEW Dynamite! Orange Cassidy, the man who doesn’t like to talk, will be debating Chris Jericho. Jericho, one of the best talkers in all of pro wrestling and the man who always has something to say on any subject. It will certainly be entertaining between two of the best wrestlers AEW has to offer.

The Mystery Moderator adds an interesting element to this debate. There are a lot of rumors floating who it might be and how they will add to this sure to be entertaining segment. With the August 12th rematch between Orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho on the horizon, what will Jericho have up his sleeve by challenging Cassidy to a debate just before the big rematch?

AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs.Darby Allin

Darby Allin has been a good ally for Jon Moxley in recent weeks in his feud against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks. After their tag team victory last week, Allin pointed at the AEW World Title. The match was on and it should be a show-stealer.

This will be Darby Allin’s second chance at the World title. He has proven himself to be one of the best younger talents in AEW and is willing to put his body literally on the line in any match. What will he be willing to do against Jon Moxley with the highest of stakes? It will be a brutal and hard-hitting match that should end another excellent AEW Dynamite show.
