AEW Full Gear 2021 | Preview

It is time for AEW Full Gear 2021! All Elite Wrestling has built one of its strongest pay-per-view cards to date.  We also have three major AEW titles on the line at Full Gear. Will Hangman Page finally win the big one? Let us look at what should be an enjoyable Saturday night in Minneapolis.

Superkliq (Adam Cole & The Young Bucks
vs. Christian Cage & Jurassic Express (Falls Count Anywhere Match)

This match has been building in recent weeks. First, Adam Cole joined The Elite at AEW All Out. Since that shocking moment, he has been involved in many trio matches with the Young Bucks in AEW. But three wrestlers seem to be standing in their way to true dominance in All Elite Wrestling.

Jurassic Express and Christian Cage have been looking for revenge and finally stopping the Superkliq. Jungle Boy has especially been on a roll in recent weeks. He is just looking for that one massive win against top-tier talent. So will this be the time Jungle Boy finally moves into the upper echelon? It will be a fun Falls Count Anywhere Match on Saturday night.

Britt Baker Vs. Tay Conti Announced For AEW Full Gear | Cultaholic Wrestling

(AEW Women’s World Championship Match)

Britt Baker has been a great champion since winning the title at AEW Double or Nothing. She has defeated all her challengers. Sometimes she does so with a little help from Jaime Hayter and Rebel, but our Dentist has reigned supreme in the improving division. Who can defeat her?

Tay Conti is an interesting challenger. She has certainly improved a lot in the past year. But a lot of her victories have been on AEW Dark: Elevation and AEW Dark. So will she be ready for the massive spotlight at AEW Full Gear? It will be a unique match-up for sure.

Malakai Black And Andrade El Idolo To Team Up At AEW Full Gear, Updated Card

PAC & Cody Rhodes vs. Malakai Black & Andrade El Idolo

This feud has been building since AEW Homecoming in early August. Malakai Black destroyed Cody Rhodes. At AEW Grand Slam in September, he beat him yet again. This caused a crisis of confidence for Rhodes. He got a massive wake-up call from Arn Anderson and finally defeated Malakai Black on a recent Dynamite.

PAC and Andrade El Idolo have had a series of classic matches in recent months. It took a strange turn when Black and El Idolo decided to form an alliance recently. This has caused PAC and Cody Rhodes to form a team as well. Which team will be working better as a unit on Saturday? That factor might just well determine the victors at AEW Full Gear in this huge tag team match.

MJF vs. Darby Allin

On a recent AEW Dynamite, MJF proclaimed himself as one of the young “pillars” of All Elite Wrestling. But, unfortunately, he also said another “pillar” was Darby Allin. Since that moment, he has attempted to attack and demean the dangerous Allin at every turn possible.

Both superstars are coming off big losses at the last pay-per-view, AEW All Out. Both will be desperate to prove they are the future of All Elite Wrestling. Will Darby put his body on the line for this match? What will MJF be willing to do to get the ultimate bragging rights over Allin? This match has the potential to steal the show.

(AEW World Tag Team Championship)

It was certainly a surprise to see FTR, on a recent AEW Dynamite, who were dressed as masked Luchadors. They proceeded to end the historic 853-day reign of the Lucha Brothers as the AAA World Tag Team Champions. They have continued to attack the brothers since that faithful night. One of the most decorated tag teams globally, FTR is now out for more gold at AEW Full Gear.

It is a true clash of styles. The old-school technical style of FTR against the high-flying style of the Lucha Brothers. It should be tag team wrestling at its finest. Can FTR become the first-ever two-time AEW World Tag Team Championships? If they do, they could rightfully be called one of the great tag teams of all time.

In a grudge match, 15 years in the making, CM Punk (shown on the left) faces Eddie Kingston (shown on the right) [Photo: WON]

CM Punk vs. Eddie Kingston

On a recent AEW Rampage, this feud heated up to one of the most personal in a real hurry. First, Eddie Kingston talked about the disrespect CM Punk had shown him over the years. Punk didn’t deny this accusation and called out Kingston for “wasted potential.” Kingston responded by saying that the AEW locker room doesn’t want CM Punk to be here. It quickly got physical after that point.

CM Punk has been really in a good mood since returning to pro wrestling in late August. However, his head butt to Eddie Kingston shows us another darker side to Punk. We should expect a physical brawl between Kingston and CM Punk at AEW Full Gear. After a 14 year history, we should expect nothing less.

The Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, Sammy Guevara, Santana, and Ortiz) vs. Men of the Year (Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky) and American Top Team (Junior dos Santos, Andrei Arlovski, and Dan Lambert)

Who knew Dan Lambert would become the biggest heel in AEW during his initial appearance this summer? Since that fateful night, he has run down the entire AEW roster and its fans on numerous occasions. However, in the Minneapolis Street Fight on Saturday night, The Inner Circle will finally get their hands on the obnoxious Lambert.

But Lambert isn’t coming alone. He will have UFC fighters in Junior dos Santos and Andrei Arlovski. Arlovski just had a victory in UFC less than a month ago. If you add in the talented Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky, you have a truly dangerous group for the Inner Circle to face. Can the Inner Circle overcome the odds against these legit fighters? It will be a chaotic, fun brawl at AEW Full Gear for sure.

Bryan Danielson vs.  Miro
(AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament Final)

Bryan Danielson has been on fire since joining AEW at All Out in early September. He has already had some classic matches against the likes of Minoru Suzuki and Kenny Omega. Bryan Danielson seems to be truly enjoying putting on mat classics and seems ready for an AEW World Title shot.

His opponent is a surprising Miro. Miro joined the tournament late and defeated Orange Cassidy. Miro’s career has been on the rise since becoming “The Redeemer” and having an impressive TNT Championship reign. Miro seems ready for the next step. Can he possibly get it against Danielson with the stakes so high? It could be the dark horse match of the night.

(AEW World Championship)

The feud has been years in the making. Kenny Omega and Hangman Page were the AEW Tag Team Champions together. They wrestled at AEW Full Gear 2020, where Omega defeated Page in the AEW Eliminator Tournament final. Hangman Page has had a crisis of confidence for months. He has lost friends and doubted his ability to win the big one. But that changed when he won the Casino Battle Royale. He finally gets his shot at Kenny Omega and the AEW World Championship on Saturday night.

Can Hangman Page finally do it? He is facing Kenny Omega, one of the best wrestlers in the world and one of his former best friends. Omega has had his number time and time again. And will other members of the Elite get involved as well? The odds seems to be stacked against Page.

Page had failed time and time again at his major opportunities in All Elite Wrestling. If he wins the title at AEW Full Gear? Let us just say a lot of AEW fans might just lose it on Saturday night.

What To Expect:

  • A debut at AEW Full Gear?
  • Big title changes on Saturday night?
  • Does Hangman Page finally win the big one?
