For a few weeks now, Chris Jericho has mentioned he has held a lot of World Championships. But he has never held the World Championship in Ring of Honor. At AEW Grand Slam, he hopes that will change.

Since winning the ROH World Championship at Death Before Dishonor, Claudio Castagnoli has been an incredible fighting champion. But a title defense against Chris Jericho is a whole different level of competition. And if Chris Jericho is around, we know the Jericho Appreciation Society could also help him cheat. So if this is a fair fight, it could be a potential show stealer on Wednesday night.

Pac (c) vs. Orange Cassidy
(AEW All-Atlantic Championship)

Two weeks ago, Pac became the first ever double champion in AEW History. But Pac has a major problem looming at AEW Grand Slam. Since AEW All Out, he has been dealing with a motivated Orange Cassidy. Orange Cassidy has set his sights on the AEW All-Atlantic Championship.

Pac has always brought out the best in Orange Cassidy. The first time Orange Cassidy ever “tried” in a match was against Pac at AEW Revolution 2020. Cassidy lost that night. Can he win his first-ever AEW championship in front of the rowdy New York fans? That would be a special moment if it happens at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

There is certainly no rest for Toni Storm and her new Interim AEW Women’s World Championship. Storm won the title a little over two weeks ago and has to defend it at AEW Grand Slam. Even worse, it is against three dangerous opponents in Serena Deeb, Britt Baker, and Athena in a Fatal Four Way Match.

Last week, Serena Deeb and Britt Baker defeated Toni Storm and Athena in a tag team match. However, they have shown they can work together to achieve their goals. Can Toni Storm overcome these ridiculous odds in a Fatal Four Way match at AEW Grand Slam? If she does, it will be her biggest victory to date in her young AEW career.

(AEW World Tag Team Championship)

Swerve In Our Glory (c) vs. The Acclaimed: AEW Tag Team Title Match Announced for Dynamite Grand Slam - WrestlingWorld
[Photo: AEW]
At AEW All Out, Swerve in Our Glory and The Acclaimed had one of the great tag team matches in AEW history. It was shocking to see the Chicago crowd that night turn on Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland. They desperately wanted the Acclaimed to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship that night. But sadly, it wasn’t meant to be.

At AEW Grand Slam, The Acclaimed gets a title rematch against Lee and Strickland. Strickland has certainly been antagonizing The Acclaimed in recent weeks. Is Swerve on the same page as Lee? We will find out on the biggest stage possible this Wednesday night. Let us hope this match can live up to the high expectations we know these talented teams are truly capable of.

On September 7th, Tony Khan announced a tournament to determine the newest AEW World Championship. It has come down to the final two competitors. It is Bryan Danielson versus Jon Moxley for the biggest prize in All Elite Wrestling.

These two have already had a classic match against each other at AEW Revolution this year. That match is what led to the formation of the Blackpool Combat Club. Moxley and Bryan Danielson have even had a lot of success as a team throughout 2022 after that night. It will be a special moment as two of the leaders of AEW face off with the highest stakes possible. Who will be the newest champion? It really is a toss-up. And that will lead to a special moment in Queens on Wednesday night.

What  Else To Expect:

  • Will we learn about any more matches for Rampage AEW Grand Slam?
  • What is next for TNT Champion Wardlow?
  • Will any huge debuts occur at AEW Grand Slam?
