AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 7/29/20 (#CodyFearsWARHORSE)| Preview

Welcome to the latest edition of AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 7/29/20! AEW pulled off a surprising Dynamite last week with the debut of Eddie Kingston and the return of Sammy Guevara. This week’s card looks quite stacked. We have two title matches, a continuation of the Orange Cassidy-Chris Jericho feud and a Warhorse. Let us look at the exciting show.

MJF State of the Industry Address

MJF is in a bad mood. Last week, he destroyed Griff Garrison and spent a significant portion of the match demanding Garrison tell everyone he was undefeated. MJF seems obsessed with his singles match record and wants to ignore his Tag Team match losses.

On Wednesday night, MJF is giving a State of the Industry Address. What could that entail? If the last few weeks are any indication, he will brag about his accomplishments and demand more respect for the AEW fans. Here is hoping it leads to a meaningful title feud for MJF.

Hikaru Shida vs. Diamante

It was a shock to see Diamante get a pinfall victory over Ivelisse in her AEW Dynamite debut last week. Ivelisse’s Dynamite debut was being hyped up a lot all over AEW social media. Diamante, on the other hand, had very limited success of AEW Dark since her debut in January 2020. But it was Diamante picking up the win and getting the chance against the AEW Women’s Champion Hikaru Shida.

Shida has been in a bit of limbo since winning the AEW Women’s title against Nyla Rose at May’s AEW Double or Nothing. She did defend the title against Penelope Ford at Fyter Fest but hasn’t been involved in a meaningful feud since winning the title. Will her match against the very hungry Diamante finally be the start of something bigger?

Jon Moxley & Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage & Ricky Starks W/Taz

It was certainly a surprise when Ricky Starks joined into an alliance with Brian Cage and Taz on a recent AEW Dark. All three have had their eyes of Darby Allin, who was part of a vicious attack just last week. Brian Cage is also still looking for some real revenge after his AEW Championship loss to Jon Moxley at Fight for the Fallen.

Moxley in All Elite Wrestling has always been a bit of a lone wolf. But he did come to help Darby just last week. Can we and Darby Allin be able to coexist against this dangerous new alliance? For the health of both, we hope they can.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: Hangman Page & Kenny Omega (c) vs. Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson)

Kenny Omega and Hangman Page are in an interesting place at the moment. They did defend the Tag titles recently against Best Friends and Private Party, but real cracks are starting to show. Kenny Omega just cannot seem to get on the same page with Hangman when dealing with FTR. In fact, Kenny Omega was very late in attempting to save his tag partner from the Dark Order just last week. Is Kenny Omega slowly turning to the Dark Side?

It is easy to forget The Dark Order team of Evil Uno, and Stu Grayson haven’t lost a traditional tag match in all of 2020. This has allowed them to move to the top of the AEW Tag Team rankings. With their numbers of Dark Order going up every week and a dysfunctional Tag Team champions across from them, this seems like a potential upset.

TNT Championship:

Cody w/ Arn Anderson (c) vs. WARHORSE

You cannot say that AEW doesn’t listen to their fans. For weeks, the hashtag #CodyFearsWARHORSE has been trending all over social media. WARHORSE has gained quite the social media following over the years and has continued to ask for this match since the Open Challenge idea was first introduced. At this point, you cannot say it isn’t a true Open Challenge as competitors from other promotions around the country have been getting a chance on AEW Dynamite. But few wrestlers are more unique than WARHORSE.

WARHORSE is the reigning IWTV Independent Wrestling Champion. He defended it at a Beyond Wrestling show in Atlantic City just this last Sunday. How will he do on his biggest stage yet? And will Cody be able to defend his title yet again after defending it just last week in a brutal hardcore match? He had better fear WARHORSE, or he could lose the TNT Championship.

Inner Circle (Chris Jericho, Santana, Ortiz, Jake Hager & Sammy Guevara) vs. Best Friends & Friends (Chuck Taylor, Trent, Orange Cassidy, Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus)

It was a shock last week when Serpentico interfered in the main event to cost Jurassic Express their tag team match against Chris Jericho and Jake Hager. The bigger surprise was it was actually Sammy Guevara returning under the mask from his suspension to help his Inner Circle friends. The reunited group continued their attack on Jurassic Express until the Best Friends, and Orange Cassidy arrived to make the save.

Orange Cassidy and Chris Jericho have a lot of unfinished business. Chris Jericho narrowly defeated Cassidy in the main event of AEW Fyter Fest. Orange Cassidy has wanted a rematch ever since and embarrassed Jericho by drenching The Inner Circle with gallons of orange juice just two weeks ago. What will happen when the two face off for the first time in the ring since Fyter Fest on Wednesday night? With ten men involved in this match, it will be quite a chaotic way to end another AEW Dynamite.
