AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 6/8/22 | (Time to Crown an AEW Interim Champ!)

On May 29th, it seemed a new era was about to begin in All Elite Wrestling as we preview AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 6/8/22. CM Punk had won the AEW World Championship to set up what looked to be an exciting summer. That all quickly changed on Friday night. On AEW Rampage, CM Punk shared the shocking news that he suffered a foot injury and would be out for an indeterminate amount of time. It was a devastating moment in what seemed like a Summer of Punk.

The obvious question is, what happens next? CM Punk will not relinquish the AEW World Championship. Which means it is time to determine an Interim AEW World Champion during his absence. That Road begins on this week’s AEW Dynamite. We will determine who will represent AEW at Forbidden Door with the Interim title on the line. The stakes certainly couldn’t be higher. Let us find out more about the huge show in Kansas City in the latest edition of AEW Ignite.

Battle Royal to Kick Off Dynamite

AEW Dynamite will kick off in a major way on Wednesday night. We will have a Battle Royal to determine Jon Moxley’s opponent for the main event. If you win the main event, you get a shot against a New Japan wrestler at Forbidden Door for the Interim AEW World Championship. It will be a fun and chaotic way to begin the show.

Who will win the Battle Royal? It is really anyone’s guess. Bryan Danielson and Adam Cole seem to be out with injury. MJF certainly is quite the unknown these days. That makes the winner truly a wildcard and will be a great way to begin an important Dynamite.

Hangman Page vs. David Finlay

At AEW Double or Nothing, Hangman Page was faced with the chance to retain his AEW World Championship through underhanded means. He chose to not do so and quickly lost the title to CM Punk. On Wednesday night, Page returns to AEW for the first time since that heartbreaking loss.

Page is going right back into action. He will be facing New Japan’s David Finlay. Finlay is a fourth-generation wrestler. He has certainly had a lot of success in New Japan. It will be a tough return test for Hangman Page. Will he be ready for it?

Jon Moxley vs. Winner of the Battle Royal

Jon Moxley will be waiting for the winner of the show’s opening, Battle Royal. Moxley is coming off the wild Anarchy in the Arena. He is also getting ready for the Blood & Guts match on June 29th. Moxley will certainly be ready for this unique opportunity.

The winner of the Battle Royal will be coming off a grueling match earlier in the show. Can they possibly be ready for the dangerous Moxley? It will certainly be a great way to end another memorable AEW Dynamite.

What To Expect:

  • Will we learn more about “Blood & Guts”?
  • What is next for AEW Women’s World Champion Thunder Rosa?
  • Will any New Japan wrestlers appear as we get closer to “Forbidden Door”?
