We’ll Hear From Eddie Kingston

It was an exciting ending to AEW Dynamite after the Blackpool Combat Club/Elite main event last week. One of the most surprising moments was the return of fan-favorite Eddie Kingston. He hadn’t appeared on AEW programming since he “quit” the company three months ago. Last Wednesday night, he attacked Ring of Honor rival Claudio Castagnoli. He did not, interestingly, attack Jon Moxley.

This week in Chicago, we will hear from Eddie Kingston. Kingston certainly isn’t shy about sharing his opinions. Where do his loyalties lie going into the Forbidden Door show? It should make for another interesting promo, for sure.

Adam Cole Speaks

Last week, Adam Cole came literally one second from defeating MJF in an epic World Title Eliminator match. The crowd and Cole were certainly disappointed by the time limit draw. MJF seemed more than happy to leave Washington D.C. with the draw.

On this week’s show, we will hear from Adam Cole. What comes next after last week’s close call? I am sure a lot of AEW fans would be happy to see a rematch in the near future between Cole and MJF.

The Hardys vs. The Gunns

For the past few weeks, The Gunns have been looking for an opportunity to prove themselves. They interfered in the Jay White-Ricky Starks main event two weeks ago and avoided questions about if they are now part of Bullet Club Gold. What do the brothers really want?

On last week’s Dynamite, we got an answer. They challenged The Hardys to a tag team match. The Gunns wanted to prove they were the best brother tag team in pro wrestling. A victory over the legendary Hardys would certainly be a big checkmark on their resume.

Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara & Minoru Suzuki vs. Action Andretti, Darius Martin & AR Fox
(Trios Match)

At Forbidden Door 2022, Chris Jericho, Sammy Guevara, and Minoru Suzuki defeated the team of Eddie Kingston, Wheeler Yuta, and Shota Umino. Le Sex Gods and Murder Grandpa are back in action just four days before this year’s Forbidden Door. You have to feel sorry for their opponents, Action Andretti, Darius Martin, and AR Fox.

But maybe some trouble is brewing in 2023. Sammy Guevara seems conflicted after his heartbreaking loss at AEW Double or Nothing and the news he is going to become a father. Jericho is trying to get him back in line in the Jericho Appreciation Society. Can Guevara and Jericho work together again? I guess we will find out on Wednesday night.

Blind Eliminator Tournament For An AEW World Tag Team Title Shot

FTR successfully defended their AEW World Tag Team Championship at AEW Double or Nothing. It is now time to get new contenders for the titles. But the way that will be determined is unique, to say the least.

We will have a Blind Eliminator Tournament to determine the next contender to FTR. What exactly does that mean? With a loaded AEW Tag Team division, it is a mystery for sure. We will get some answers on Wednesday night.

Kris Statlander (c) vs. Taya Valkyrie
(AEW TBS Championship)

Taya Valkyrie is furious. After a heartbreaking loss at AEW Double or Nothing, she watched as a returning Kris Statlander won the AEW TBS Championship mere minutes after her own loss to Jade Cargill. Valkyrie has been watching and fuming backstage since that fateful night in Las Vegas.

Thanks to the TBS Championship Open Challenge, Valkyrie will get another show on Wednesday night for the title. She has had weeks to prepare for this shot at Statlander. In a battle of two of the most powerful women in all of AEW, who will leave Chicago with the gold?

Jeff Jarrett vs. Mark Briscoe
(Concession Stand Brawl)

After an embarrassing Trios match loss last week on AEW Rampage, Jeff Jarrett demanded a unique match against Mark Briscoe on this week’s AEW Dynamite. The match he proposed was a Concession Stand Brawl.

The Concession Stand Brawl dates back to the 1970s in Tupelo for Memphis Wrestling. The original was a brutal hardcore tag team match that is remembered to this day by pro wrestling fans. What will Briscoe and Jarrett have in store in 2023 in this singles match? The Chicago crowd could be in for some truly hardcore action for sure.

Orange Cassidy & Katsuyori Shibata vs. Daniel Garcia & Zack Sabre Jr.

It was a surprising moment when NJPW World Television Champion Zack Sabre Jr arrived to challenge AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy. Daniel Garcia also appeared in the backstage segment looking for ROH Pure Champion Katsuyori Shibata. Orange Cassidy nonchalantly told them Shibata would be in Chicago for AEW Dynamite.

It is certainly a rare treat to see the legendary Shibata in action. If you add in the technical master, Sabre Jr., and the hard-working AEW International Champion, Orange Cassidy, you could be in for a special tag team match heading into the Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

What To Expect:

  • Will we learn about more matches for Forbidden Door?
  • Will CM Punk appear on AEW Dynamite?
  • Will the Elite be live in Chicago?
