This week’s preview of AEW Rampage for 9/16/22 comes on the heels of an exciting edition of AEW Dynamite, where the finals of the AEW World Championship Grand Slam were determined. On this past week’s edition of Dynamite, fans are now aware that it will be an all-Blackpool Combat Club finals next week.
On this week’s edition of AEW Rampage, four matches are scheduled. One of the four matches is for a championship as Samoa Joe defends the Ring of Honor Television Championship. While the other four matches include notable names, do any have any championship implications? Only time will tell if that is true.

Penelope Ford vs. Willow Nightingale
When matches have a cold booking, it tends to hurt all involved. But sometimes, it’s necessary when it’s meant to give those involved exposure. That is the case in this match with ‘Mrs. Superbad’ as she faces Willow. As announced this past week on AEW Dynamite, Ford will face one of the most beloved women’s talents in Ring of Honor as it was closing its doors.
Willow isn’t someone to be taken lightly. Behind that smile is the heart of a lion. She is a fierce competitor and is able to adapt regardless of the style she faces. That ability to adjust lends itself to a series of exciting matchups. How will she fair against the fierce Penelope Ford?

Matt Hardy vs. Darby Allin
On this past week’s edition of Dynamite, we witnessed Darby Allin participating in an exhibition showcasing how much of a risk-taker he is. When it was over, however, we saw Matt Hardy deliver a show yet sarcastic clap applauding the efforts of Allin. Additionally, Hardy addressed the similarities between his brother Jeff and Darby.
But Matt Hardy was also able to share how he is just as much a part of Team Xtreme as his brother Jeff is. This will beg the question, can Darby beat someone that has lived his entire life with someone that has pushed not only competition but living to the extreme? In an effort to cement himself in his brother’s absence, Matt Hardy will do anything he has to do to succeed.

Ethan Page vs. Danhausen
As it was revealed this past week, Stokely Hathaway’s group, including Ethan Page, are agents for hire. We also heard that much like the rest of Hathaway’s crew, Ethan Page has as much invested here as well. But when Danhausen took it upon himself to interject himself in a backstage promo by Page, it certainly got the tire All Ego.
While Danhausen has often offered a comedic pause in AEW, that shouldn’t be confused with his ability to deliver end-to-end action. Will this be a case where Ethan Page takes Danhausen too lightly, or will Danhausen only risk cursing himself coming out of this match?

ROH Television Championship
Samoa Joe (c) vs. Josh Woods
Smart Mark Sterling shared just how pleased he is that the Technical Beast will be challenging for the ROH Television championship. He also shared how Wardlow attempted to end him. Woods is as tied to Ring of Honor as Samoa Joe has been. In more recent years, it is Josh Woods that gave of himself to the promotion unconditionally.
This will be Josh Woods’ first Ring of Honor championship opportunity since joining All Elite Wrestling. Under the tutelage of Sterling, there is less need for him to have to promote himself. This is an instance where all The Technical Beast needs to do is show just how unrelenting of a competitor he is.
What To Expect
