Black Water TEASER | RIPTIDE Wrestling Preview

In a few weeks time on Friday 2 November, I and my good buddy Conroy (SEPW pro wrestler ‘Cold Blooded’ Conroy no less) will be making a trip to the seaside, Brighton to be exact, to watch for ourselves the hottest young promotion in the UK right now, Riptide Wrestling presents Black Water Teaser.

We’ve never been to see Riptide Wrestling before as they only ran their first show last June. After 15 shows in, but the buzz about them over here in Blighty hasn’t gone unnoticed. From the fantastic and different cards that they’ve put on, to the way they shoot the show for their VOD service. RIPTIDE is making noises, which is why myself and Conroy wanted to see for ourselves.

Below is that announced card for the event, and with two more matches to be revealed – including RIPTIDE’S Brighton Champion Chuck Mambo making the first defense of his title – this is a stacked card already!

Black Water TEASER

Lord Gideon Grey v Jordan Breaks

Grey has been around the UK scene for quite a while. I’ve seen him wrestle for IPW:UK before but apart from that I hadn’t seen him elsewhere. A strong, in your face, smash-mouth style, Grey should never be underestimated.

I do know that Breaks been championed by Darrel Allen (Owner/Head Trainer at Knucklelocks Gym).To me, that’s an endorsement! I can’t wait to see what he can do.

Kurtis Chapman v Kris Wolf

Chapman aka The Super Contender is I think predominately a Revolution Pro Wrestling guy. I don’t know too much about him. What I do know is that he took KUSHIDA to the limit at the most recent Rev Pro Global Wars event. ‘Nuff said?

Kris Wolf was a mainstay in Japan’s Stardom promotion, before leaving earlier this year and competing over here in Europe and North America. With a Stardom background behind her, you can guarantee that she likes to wrestle Strong Style!

Money Versus Everybody (Damon Moser, Spike Trivet, Chris Ridgeway) v The OJMO & Team Whitewolf

MVE is a trio that exists solely in Riptide. Ridgeway is known for being “Hard as Fuck”. Moser is a former Knucklelocks trainee, made his name in Progress Wrestling and is legit “Hard as Fuck”. Trivet (pronounced Trivaaay) is a posh rich boy character with a penchant for quite brutal matches (also “Hard as Fuck”)

The OJMO is another standout from the Knucklelocks Gym (you’ll hear that quite a bit) who has been around for a couple of years. Always looking to make a name for himself, maybe he’ll surpass himself here?

Team WhiteWolf is A-Kid and Carlos Romo, a team from Spain that has wrestled over here in the UK for Rev Pro and ATTACK to name just a few. A high flying team that always goes above and beyond. Together with OJMO, this could be a show-stealing match.

Chris Brookes v David Starr

C’mon, you don’t need me to tell you about Brookes and Starr, do you?

Aussie Open Challenge

Mark Davis and Kyle Fletcher are back for another Aussie Open Challenge. As the name suggests both men are from Australia (duh!) and to borrow an MVE term, both are “Hard as Fuck”. The current Progress Wrestling Tag Champs will be looking to put their reputation on the line once again and show the world why they are regarded as one of the best teams in pro wrestling.

Five Person Scramble Number One Contenders Match
Flash Morgan Webster v Viper v Millie McKenzie v TK Cooper v CandyFloss

A Riptide special match here folks. An intergender multi-person scramble match! Flash has been a mainstay in the British scene for many years now, and in my eyes totally underrated. He came back from a serious injury to not only perform at the level he did but utterly surpass it. This man is the bollocks as they say around my way.

Viper, fresh from her exposure in Stardom and World of Sport, is someone I’m looking forward to seeing live. Been a fan for many years due to her work in ICW and can’t wait to see her and Millie beat the living crap out of each other like I know they will.

Talking of Millie, after seeing her live at Hello Wembley a few weeks back I can confirm that she is everything everyone has been saying about her…and a bag of chips! At 18 she literally has not only the UK but the entire wrestling world at her feet.

TK Cooper is one half of the SPPT (South Pacific Power Trip) with Travis Banks, and again another talent that is underrated. His work as a heel is magnificent, he can brawl, he can fly high, he can do it all. And I’m sure we’ll see all that and more in this match.

CandyFloss I have seen at a few IPW shows a few years back and she looked as green as grass, but after seeing her on a few Progress shows, and her work in Japan, she has come on in leaps and bounds. A very bright (possibly pink?) future ahead for her. Plus she’s one of the nicest and sweetest (ignore the pun) people I’ve ever had the privilege to meet.

Six out of the eight matches announced

And there we have it. Six out of the eight matches announced. I’m sure you’ll agree that the card so far looks amazing.

In the coming weeks I will be posting another of my Brief History articles, this time about Riptide Wrestling (duh!) and after the event I will be posting a review of Black Water, along with some words from Conroy about what he thought. A wrestler’s eye of the show as you will.

But before I go, I’ll leave you with a gift. In my opinion, this was one of the promotion’s greatest matches and a match that pushed Riptide to the forefront of the wrestling world. Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, I give to you Jimmy Havoc v Keith Lee v Matt Riddle in a 2/3 Falls Tables Match – ENJOY!
