#Review: Bar Wrestling Presents – The Best City I’ve Ever Been Too

Bar Wrestling has always been known for its amazing shows. It gives us these amazing cards ahead of the shows and sometimes it’s easy to wonder whether they will live up to the high expectations. Luckily, they always do and The Best City I’ve Ever Been Too was no exception. With some amazing stars from the business, this show was one of the best I’ve seen. Here’s a review of that show including all the matches and the famous aftermath!

Ray Rosas v Jungle Boy

From the start of the show, it was obvious this match up was going to be very funny. It started with opposing chants for Sexy Jesus and Jungle Boy (you know because RayRosas looks a bit like Jesus). The match started with a strong lockup between Rosas and Jungle Boy bouncing off the two sides of the ring. It was seemed evenly matched in terms of both guys size, strength and stature and the crowd seemed split too. After the initial lock up, we saw both guys agility with arm drags off the top rope, splashes, and dives. Although Jungle Boy had the agility advantage, Rosas got the upper hand. This was after countering a possible dangerous high-risk maneuver with a few backbreakers to stop his momentum. As the match went on, you saw Rosas experience show with his awareness and ability to use Jungle Boy’s momentum against him. After Rosas got a bit of help from Peter Avalon, Ray got the win with a super-suplex and killer elbow off the top of the rope. It was a match with funny accents, Jungle Book references and seductive voices from.

Taya Valkyrie v Heather Monroe

Heather Monroe is one of the best female wrestlers and a Bar favorite. However, she had to be a bit worried when she heard she was up against the brutal, strong and vicious Taya Valkyrie. Like the previous match, the crowd was split 50/50. Even though everyone though Monroe was being naïve going for a handshake, she used it to her advantage. Monroe got the upper hand over Valkyrie with her agility and strength which led to an arm drag off the top rope a pin attempt. Yet, never count out Valkyrie. She got back in the game with a double stomp, knee to the face and chops to the chest. One thing you saw throughout is that even though Valkyrie is brutal. However, Monroe was the shiftiest taking advantage of everything she could and using mind games. There were some amazing spots in this match with destroyer’s, hip attacks and an amazing Michinoku Driver from Monroe. In the end, Valkyrie got the win with a really strong face lock submission. Both women put it all on the line in this match. It was probably one of the most brutal women’s matches Bar has had. As the commentators said, they both did it with style!

Tyler Bateman v Luchasaurus

This was a match between two Bar favorites, and it was also one of the most aesthetically odd matches. There were part luchador, part dinosaur and the Tyler Bateman with the awesome mustache. The match started with Bateman posing in a freeze frame around the edges of the ring. But the match soon got started with a suplex, kick to the face and knee off the ring all within a minute of the match. Both guys are strong, but it’s easy to forget how agile they are (especially in the case of Luchasaurus) because of how big they are. So, as well as kicks and chops galore, the crowd saw flips, dives and standing moonsaults. What was surprising was that it was expected that Luchasaurus would dominate Bateman for the majority of the match. Yet, it seemed like Bateman held his own for the majority and it seemed like Luchasaurus was reacting Tyler. After Bateman controlled a large portion of the match, both guys came to a stalemate. Yet, Bateman kept the upper hand and surprisingly got the pink with Death From Above to end an extremely brutal match.

Daga & Tessa Blanchard v DoomFly

This match contained 4 very amazing and versatile wrestlers which are exciting. The match started with Daga and Eli in the ring and, from the start, there was a size difference with Daga towering over Everfly. However, with both guys crazy agility, there was counter after counter and neither guy could seem to get the one up on their opponent. This all led to a sign of respect between the two guys with a handshake. Yet, once Tessa and Delilah were tagged in, we suddenly saw two superstars who have the same conditioning and energy. It all became very serious and quick paced with hurricanrana’s, octopus’ submissions and a failed tandem 619 attempt from DoomFly. This led to Everfly being tossed and slammed into the ring for an attempted pin. With both teams amazing chemistry, we had tags and tandem offense galore which was so exciting for the crowd. Once Eli tagged himself in, it seemed like Blanchard had the advantage with her strength and Daga with his speed. But Eli spiked Daga to get the tag to the fresher Delilah who used her aerobic talent to get the upper hand over her two opponents. This match had a quicker pace than the previous matches and was tit for tat the entire way through. Yet, Blanchard finally got the win with a double knee to the back of Eli. A lot of people probably had Daga and Blanchard to win, but no-one expected DoomFly to put up such a fight.

Brian Cage v PJ Black

It’s easy to think that Cage had the advantage over Black due to the muscle Brian has along with his agility. But, because both wrestlers are so diverse, both men exchanged chops and there were submissions galore. Cage initially used this to his advantage early in the match by managing to block Black’s high flying. However, this wasn’t to say that Black was being desecrated because Black’s agility and sense of fearlessness really stopped him from being the underdog in the match. He avoided the heavy hitting of Cage to surprising the much larger man with a kick to the side of Cage’s head and cross body’s from the top of the rope. Throughout, it seemed like both guys kept getting the advantage over his opponent for a small amount of time. However, because of the pace of the match, this didn’t last for long and the tide turned quicker than WWE jobber match. The first 5 minutes saw Cage with the advantage. But a single leg submission and reverse DDT let Black go to the top rope where he felt comfortable and almost get the pin. He then managed to counter a Frankensteiner to go for a roll-up which, even though it didn’t lead to a 1, 2, 3, was awesome. So, after a match where it was anyone’s game, Cage got the win with a powerbomb. It easily could’ve gone either way.

SoCal Uncensored v The RockNES Monsters and Watts

We ended the night with the SCU open challenge which was accepted by RockNES Monsters and Watt’s. There was a ring full of 6 amazingly diverse and talented wrestlers. The match started with the veteran Christopher Daniels and Big Hunky Kev (BHK) very quickly with dropkicks and backbreakers galore. The pace slowed down significantly when Kazarian got tagged in and BHK tagged in Yuma. We got arm drags, body slams and leg drops which, teamed with Kazarian’s speed, made him even more lethal. Lethal to everyone but Watts who demanded to have Scorpio Sky in the ring (Watts’s ex Wakanda Vice partner). Even with Sky’s agility, speed and athleticism, Watts is just a mountain of a man and seemed to toss Sky around like a rag doll. This part of the match was exciting because both guys know each other to a tee from tagging with each other and there was definitely respect, to an extent. What was so great was the tag team chemistry between SCU but also Watts teaming with RockNES Monsters! It was a match with so many amazing athletes showcasing their unique styles, athletes losing track of who’s legal, and referee’s flying.

The match didn’t end there and, for anyone who hasn’t been living under a Twitter rock, you probably know what happened next. Watts attempted to hit Sky with a chair, but who came out to be the saving grace? Joey Ryan who then got pummelled by Watts who was then saved by his attempted killer Hangman Page. It led to a sweet reconciliation between the two wrestlers with the biggest dicks for a double dick flip and handshake! Yuma and BHK went after our new favorite bromance and then hell broke out with Cody, Brandi, and the Young Bucks all coming out. We saw a dive out of the ring from Cody, a bionic shoulder spear from Brandi and superkicks galore. There was even a triple superkick to Watts from the Bucks and referee Nox. After all that chaos, Kazarian hit a moonsault pile driver and got the win. No one in the crowd seemed to care at that point. It was a beautifully chaotic match!

What an end to one of the best wrestling shows and it definitely proved that Bar Wrestling is one of the best promotions in the world.
