#Preview: WSU Presents Summer, Kind of Wonderful

Women Superstars United is back and it’s time for Summer, Kind of Wonderful! When the women of WSU get together, amazing matches are in store. They all have the desire to be the absolute best and on August 3rd, they will have a chance to prove it again. You can get tickets here, or you can purchase a season pass. This includes not only Summer, Kind of Wonderful but the remaining shows for 2019 as well. If you purchase a season pass, you also get a t-shirt, commemorative season ticket-holder card, and other awesome goodies.

Brittany Blake vs. Gabby Gilbert

Brittany Blake will be in action at Summer Kind of Wonderful, although her opponent isn’t exactly who she would like for it to be yet. Blake has been very vocal on social media and in her recent promos that she feels she has earned a shot at the WSU Champion, Tessa Blanchard. In her eyes, she’s the only choice for the number one contender’s spot. And to her credit, her claim to being worthy of a title shot is valid. However, she’s not the only woman in WSU who’s been grinding away to get a chance at the gold either.

Her opponent is the lovable and bubbly Gabby Gilbert. Gilbert is perhaps best known as one half of Rainbow Bright with Luscious Latasha. Lately, it’s been a subject of discussion about what Gabby’s focus is in WSU. Is it to have fun, or is it to be successful? This new critique of her fun-loving nature has caused the bright and colorful Gilbert to take a step back. She wants to be taken more seriously and not just thought of as the happy-go-lucky fun girl of WSU. That’s why Gilbert has challenged Brittany Blake to this match.

Davienne vs. Veda Scott

The bruising beauty of The Endless will take on Veda Scott at Summer Kind of Wonderful. After a bumpy patch during the WSU Tag Team Championship tournament, Davienne got back on the winner’s side by defeating her partner, Megan Mason. This will be one of Veda’s last appearances in North America before the thoroughly independent wrestler jets off to the UK for a few months. In an interesting historical tidbit, in singles action, these two have met four times in the past. Veda is ahead, with three victories to Davienne’s one. As usual with The Endless, Mother will be present at ringside.

Sierra vs. Karen Bam Bam w/Neveah Chantelle

We last saw “Picture Perfect” Sierra in March at Something Entirely New. Trained by current Ring of Honor Champion, Matt Taven, Sierra is slowly increasing her presence on the independent scene. She will be taking on the debuting Karen Bam Bam. Bam Bam will be accompanied by Neveah Chantelle, who made her WSU debut in April at Traveled Down the Road and Back Again. Karen was trained by Hall of Famer Johnny Rodz, while Neveah is from The Monster Factory. All three of these ladies would love to make an impact at Summer Kind of Wonderful.

Ruthless Lala vs. Ariela Nyx

Here we have a clash of two strong, beautiful and slightly scary women. They’re also both undefeated in WSU currently, Ruthless Lala and Ariela Nyx. Ariela defeated Nina Monet at Travelled Down The Road and Back Again, while Lala bested Neveah Chantelle. These two matches bookended each other, and that’s where our competitors crossed paths. Ariela took offense to the lack of respect, while Lala accuses Ariela of trying to steal her moment. So, respectfully, these two will cross paths again at Summer Kind of Wonderful. Only one can remain undefeated though.

Savanna Stone vs. Sonya Strong

In another clash of young women looking to make an impact, we have Savanna Stone taking on Sonya Strong. Savanna is a Mid-West gal, based in St. Louis and was trained by Michael Elgin. Sonya is a New York lady and trained in the House of Glory. Both are young, hungry and have been taking in many bookings to get more experience. Notable appearances for Savanna are Dynamo Pro in St. Louis and Making Towns Wrestling in the Volunteer State of Tennessee. Sonya has competed for Women’s Wrestling Revolution, SHIMMER, RISE and now WSU.

WSU World Tag Team Championship Match
The Platinum Hunnies (c) vs. Delmi Exo & Kasey Catal

The duo of Delmi Exo and Kasey Catal were unfortunately left out in the cold in regards to the WSU Tag Team Championship tournament. This was due to an injury to Delmi at the time, and now both are ready for a shot at the gold. At Once More With Feeling, they defeated HEX (Nina Monet and Ravana Xin) for this opportunity. The final deciding moments of this match were not entirely honorable. Delmi had been under the impression it was she who scored the victory cleanly. She wanted to show Kasey that they could do it the right way.

Kasey stubbornly maintains the only way to the WSU Tag Team Championships is by any means necessary. Ava Everett and Angel Sinclair of the Platinum Hunnies will make their third defense of the titles. Dealing with the headache that is Candy Cartwright has thrown them a little off of their game. However, if they want to remain tag team champions, they have to put Candy out of their minds and focus on the challengers.

WSU Spirit Championship Match
Kris Statlander (c) vs. Violette

Kris Statlander will be touching down in Voorhees for her fourth WSU Spirit Championship defense. Thus far, she’s defeated Savanna Stone, Leyla Hirsch, and Aja Perera. Outside of WSU, The Alien Among Us has been unstoppable. She’s picked up huge wins over names like Kimber Lee, Solo Darling, and one of her trainers, Pat Buck. Statlander also enjoyed a brief reign as IndependentWrestling.TV Independent Champion, unseating Orange Cassidy for about a month before dropping it back to him.

Violette, another House of Glory student, is undefeated in WSU with a record of 4-0. Wins under her belt include Leyla Hirsch, Veda Scott, and Shazza McKenzie. These two have only crossed paths in the ring once before, in a tag team match. They were on opposite sides and Statlander’s team picked up the victory. Will Statlander’s meteoric run continue or will Violette pluck the WSU Spirit Championship from her?

You can find the answer to that question and more by checking out Summer Kind of Wonderful. Also set to appear are Damaris Albright, Megan Mason, and Candy Cartwright. Both Damaris and Megan will be in action, while Candy will be hosting a special edition of The Candy Shop. If you can’t make it out to The Colosseum in person, don’t worry. The show will be available on CZW Studios and perhaps one of their partner streaming sites as well.
