Preview: Central Empire Wrestling 11-Year Anniversary Show

This Saturday Central Empire Wrestling returns to their home away from home, Oskaloosa, Iowa for the company’s 11-Year Anniversary show. Riding high after the biggest show in company history (Bridge City Slam 2) in January, CEW brings a night full of action which includes four championship matches.

At Bridge City Slam 2, Donnie Peppercricket did what most thought impossible, he defeated Shawn Nautilus. His victory ended the champions three-year undefeated streak and he became the new CEW Heavyweight Champion. It was a bloody, hard-fought battle, one that pushed both men to their limits. No one on the CEW roster had a better start to 2020, no one except JT Energy.

The same night Peppercricket became CEW Champion, Energy picked up the biggest victory of his career, defeating WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler. Before defeating the King, Energy made multiple appearances on WWE television significantly boosting his presence on the independent wrestling scene. The two red hot stars are on a collision course this Saturday and only one will emerge as the standard-bearer of CEW.

CEW Ladies Championship Match

Valentina Loca’s year-long quest to become CEW Ladies Champion came to fruition at Bridge City Slam 2. That night she defeated Rahne Victoria, who was a last-minute replacement for the match. The woman she was replacing was Branae, who missed the show due to injury.

Now completely healed, Branae is coming to Oskaloosa to prematurely end Loca’s reign as champion. These ladies are no strangers, in July of 2019 they met during the CEW Washington County Fair show. It was the show’s hardest-hitting contest, one that Branae emerged victoriously. These two have hit their stride in the ring over the past year and this will no doubt be a physical encounter.

Full Throttle Pro Wrestling Golden Challenge Championship

Former CEW Heavyweight Champion The Storm now calls Full Throttle Pro Wrestling out of Florida his home. He is their current Golden Challenge Champion, a role that sees him take on anyone willing to answer his open challenge. Making his return to CEW At Bridge City Slam 2, The Storm defended his championship against three men, one of which was the Suplex Cyclone.

Gannon, who hasn’t met a wrestler he couldn’t suplex, is answering the challenge in hopes of bringing the FTPW Title home to Kansas City. If you want to talk about a hard-hitting, take no prisoners match ups, then look no further than this match come Saturday night.

Both men bring a no-nonsense approach every time they step into the ring and this match could be the show-stealer. The two have even traded some verbal barbs on social media during the lead up to this match.

CEW Tag Team Championship Match

It is well documented in the CEW history books just how dominant the Snake Pit has been as a team. Their prominence as a team extends beyond CEW as they hold championships in multiple promotions. At Bridge City Slam 2, they had an all-out war with the Full Throttle Pro Wrestling Tag Team Champion Metro Brothers.

During the champions vs champions showdown, the Snake Pit emerged victorious, albeit by disqualification. Now they turn their sights toward crafty CEW veteran Rory Fox. At Bridge City Slam 2, Fox also earned a huge victory, defeating former WWE superstar Chris Masters.

The mystery partner the Snake Pit must concern themselves with could be a plethora of CEW superstars. The tag champs have plenty of enemies looking for the opportunity to unseat them as the top team in CEW. Who walks out on top at CEW’s 11-Year Anniversary show?

4th Annual Matt “Rosey” Anoa’i Tribute Match

Every year CEW honors the late Matt Anoa’i during their anniversary show. Anoa’i, who was known to WWE fans as Rosey, took part in multiple CEW shows before passing away in 2017. A year ago, at the CEW 10-Year Anniversary show, Wallace defeated his former partner Devin Carter in a loser must retire ladder match.

Since then he has seen some struggles, picking up a win this Saturday would go a long way to what could be a bounce-back 2020. Jared Thumb, a student at Seth Rollins Black and Brave Academy, is making his CEW debut. It would be quite an impact to defeat one of CEW’s craftiest veterans in his first match at the 11-Year Anniversary show.

Axel Greece CEW Hall of Fame Induction

Flawless Wallace’s manager Axel Greece will become the third inductee to the Central Empire Wrestling Hall of Fame Saturday night. Greece will join the current CEW Heavyweight Champion Donnie Peppercricket and Even Jordan in the Hall of Fame.

Having been with the company from the very beginning, Greece has served many roles for Central Empire Wrestling. From being a referee to working as part of the ring crew he has done it all.

But, where he really made his name within CEW is serving as a manager to a handful of CEW stars. A throwback to the golden era of managers during the 1980s, Greece is always willing to do whatever it takes to help his clients achieve victory. His ability to gain the ire of the fans is unmatched and this honor is well deserved.
