Ilja Dragunov Makes His Presence Known

Last week’s NXT UK main event featured a stellar contest between Gallus member Joe Coffey and former Defiant World Champion Rampage Brown. Coffey would win this competition after a war of strikes. However, after this match, a familiar face would make an appearance. After his own victory over Noam Dar earlier in the night, Ilja Dragunov would make his appearance, interrupting the handshake of respect between Coffey and Rampage. Coffey and Rampage are 1-1 in singles competition, but it seems as though Dragunov is attempting to insert himself into the mix. Will we see Dragunov explain his appearance last week? We’ll find out this Thursday!

NXT UK Preview for 6/10/21
WWE NXT UK Women’s Championship Match:
Kay Lee Ray (c.) vs. Meiko Satomura

These two women are no strangers to each other. For the better part of this year, Japanese wrestling legend, Meiko Satomura, and NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray have engaged in a war of attrition. With reports of Meiko Satomura moving to the United Kingdom to pursue something different with her professional wrestling career, “The Final Boss” has made her presence known within the NXT UK Universe.

Back in January, the NXT UK Women’s Champion, Kay Lee Ray, defeated Jinny in an NXT UK Women’s Championship match. Afterward, Ray would have some choice words for the women’s locker room. Ray would claim her spot as the greatest women’s wrestler, not only in NXT UK but in the world! She would soon meet a new challenger – a woman who has performed in WWE before, but never in NXT UK. Making her way down to ringside is “The Final Boss” Meiko Satomura, a Japanese wrestling legend at only 41 years old.

Suddenly, the match was made. On the March 4, 2021, edition of NXT UK, Kay Lee Ray and Meiko Satomura would wrestle one of the greatest women’s matches in the history of the brand. In a 16:47 contest, Kay Lee Ray would defeat Meiko Satomura, earning the respect of ‘The Final Boss’ in the process. However, this does not mean that Satomura wasn’t seeking championship gold in NXT UK any further.

On May 13, 2021, Meiko Satomura would defeat Dani Luna, Emilia McKenzie, Isla Dawn, and Jinny in an NXT UK Women’s Championship #1 Contender’s Gauntlet match. Thus, Meiko has earned the right to contend for the NXT UK Women’s Championship once more. Satomura is entering this match with momentum on her side after her victory in the gauntlet match. Alternatively, Ray’s last competitive appearance was in a loss alongside Isla Dawn against Emilia McKenzie and Meiko Satomura in tag team action. This match will take place in NXT UK’s main event on June 10, 2021. Will we see a new NXT UK Women’s Champion this Thursday?

What To Expect:

  • Will Ilja Dragunov address his appearance at the end of last week’s main event?
  • The long-awaited NXT UK Women’s Championship rematch between “The Final Boss” and “The Forever Champion.”
