NXT Inquisition for 11/13/19 (Yim vs Shirai)

With NXT TakeOver: WarGames on the horizon, there will be huge implications on tonight’s show. In the main event, two of the female WarGames participants will square off for an advantage heading into the match as Mia Yim faces Io Shirai. Without any further ado, let’s jump into this week’s episode of NXT with the Inquisition!

Angel Garza vs. Lio Rush (c) (NXT Cruiserweight Championship)

The match begins with Garza attempting to slap Rush, but the champion counters with a fast-paced offense. The two seem evenly matched to begin. Garza rolls out of the ring, stepping into the front row to strip his pants in front of Rush’s family! Rush responds with a dive to the outside and follows Garza back in the ring with a tornado DDT! Rush ejects Garza to the outside and follows up with another dive, but Garza counters with a power slam as we cut to commercial.

The show continues with Garza and Rush exchange strikes, Rush landing a handspring elbow for a two-count. Garza catches Rush with a rising knee, but Rush fights back. Garza catches Rush’s Come-Up attempt with a dropkick to the back! 1… 2… Rush powers out! Garza misses a moonsault, to which Rush capitalizes with a swinging breaker! 1… 2… Garza kicks out! Rush goes to the top, but Garza catches him at the pass. Garza lands an avalanche moonsault power slam! 1… 2… Rush kicks out! The crowd is into this!

Garza lays into Rush with a series of heated strikes, but Rush catches him with his Spanish Fly technique, Rush Hour! The champion hits a spinning heel kick followed by the Come-Up! Rush holds on and slaps Garza and goes for another Come-Up, but Garza counters into The Wing Clipper! 1… 2… Rush kicks out at the last moment! Garza climbs to the top, holding Rush in position. They exchange headbutts, allowing Rush to escape a potential Super Wing Clipper. Rush hits The Final Hour! 1… 2… Garza kicks out!

Rush hits Garza with a standing Final Hour! Garza’s leg was on the rope, but the unseeing referee counts to three!

Winner: Lio Rush
Xia Li vs. Aliyah (w/Vanessa Borne)

Aliyah goes behind and slams Li by her hair. Li lifts Aliyah into a powerbomb position and lands a series of quick strikes. Borne tries to intervene from the outside, but Li shoos her way before focusing on Aliyah. Northern lights suplex by Aliyah for a pinfall attempt! Li hits a series of kicks followed by a cartwheel elbow smash in the corner. Li lands a spinning hook kick on Aliyah for the 1… 2… 3!

Winner: Xia Li

Post-match, a medical professional enters the ring; judging by the blood, it appears that Aliyah suffered a potentially broken nose during the match.

Next up is Finn Balor, who makes his way to the ring. Balor takes the mic, asking what happened to NXT and the wrestling business. Balor refers to NXT as a joke, running down Johnny Gargano, who’s currently out of action. Finn Balor turns his focus to Matt Riddle, who he attacked last week. Cue Riddle, who attacks Balor! A brawl soon breaks out, spilling into the ringside area. Riddle kicks Balor over the barricade before Balor flees.

This brings out The Undisputed Era, the four stablemates cornering Riddle in the ring. Cue Tommaso Ciampa and Keith Lee, who make their way to the ring alongside Riddle. The Undisputed Era climb on the apron as Lee invites them to step in. Lee says that while Cole defeated Daniel Bryan and didn’t back down from Seth Rollins, will he stand up to Lee? Roderick Strong takes the mic, talking up Cole’s success in WWE and saying he deserves a night off. If Lee wants a fight, he will have to fight Strong. Lee accepts the challenge!

Roderick Strong vs. Keith Lee

Lee tosses Strong over the ropes and into the ring! Strong rolls out of the ring as we cut to commercial. The show comes back to Lee hitting a pop-up slam on Strong! Lee forces his boot against Strong’s chest, squeezing the air from him. Lee attacks Strong in different corners. Strong fires back, but Lee catches him with a big elbow! Strong leaps from the middle rope, but Lee catches him with a big scoop slam! Lee wrenches back on Strong’s arm. Strong attacks Lee’s legs and hits a number of shoulder tackles. Lee isn’t backing down! Lee shakes off Strong’s arms and swats him out of the air!

Strong crotches Lee on the second rope and hits a knee on Lee as we go to commercial once more. From break, both men exchange strikes, Strong getting the better of said exchange with a dropkick sending Lee to the outside! The fight continues at ringside, Lee tossing Strong back in, but Strong catches him with a wrecking ball dropkick! Back in the ring, Strong continues to attack Lee, landing a Sick Kick for a two-count. Strong cinches in a sleeper hold and hooks the nose of Lee! Strong taunts Lee, attacking him still. Lee fires back with a series of short arm clotheslines and a corner splash!

Lee tosses Strong overhead for a two-count.

Keith Lee blocks Strong’s jumping knee and hits a backbreaker for another two-count. Strong catches Lee on the top rope, but Lee pushes him off a few times. Finally, Strong executes a big superplex! 1… 2… Lee gets the shoulder up! Lee pushes Strong away with his legs and the two start to exchange strikes. Strong hits a series of running forearms before being caught by a clothesline by Lee!

The rest of The Undisputed Era make their way to ringside, but Ciampa attacks! Cole catches Ciampa with a superkick! Meanwhile, Riddle takes the fight to The Undisputed Era! From out of nowhere, Balor catches Riddle with a sling blade followed by a double stomp! Balor dropkicks Riddle into the steel steps. In the ring, Strong hits a jumping knee followed by an Olympic Slam for the two-count! Lee catches Strong’s senton attempt and lands a jackhammer for the 1… 2… 3!

Winner: Keith Lee

Almost immediately, The Undisputed Era attacks Lee! Ciampa runs to the ring to assist Lee, but is quickly overwhelmed. Dominik Dijakovic makes his way to the ring, attacking all members of The Undisputed Era! Dominik Dijakovic hits Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish with a double chokeslam and lays out Cole with Feast Your Eyes! Dijakovic approaches Ciampa and tells him he’s in. Dijakovic shakes Ciampa’s hand and turns to face Lee. After a staredown, they shake hands as well! Does this mean Dijakovic will represent Team Ciampa at WarGames?

Backstage, it’s shown that Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir, and Candice LeRae are laid out! Triple H arrives on the scene, demanding additional security.

Isaiah “Swerve” Scott vs. Bronson Reed

Reed takes control of the wrist to begin, but Scott reverses into a waist lock. Scott nips up following a shoulder tackle. Reed whips Scott into the corner, but Scott takes advantage with a dropkick. Suddenly, Reed bowls over him with another tackle! Reed executes numerous headbutts. Reed catches Scott with a headlock before sitting on the back of his opponent ala John Tenta. Bronson Reed drops across Scott’s back and tosses him out of the ring. Reed follows Scott to the outside. Scott sends Reed into the ring post as we cut to commercial.

The show comes back to the action returned to the ring, Scott landing a flying forearm to the back of Reed. Scott catches Reed with a leaping flatliner for the two-count! Scott hits Reed with numerous strikes, but Reed shakes them off, hitting a clothesline followed by a senton. Reed ascends to the top rope, but Scott catches him. Swerve cinches in a hammerlock, but Reed turns it around into a tombstone position. Scott fights out and plants Reed with a DDT! 1… 2… Reed kicks out!

Scott attacks the arm of Reed before landing a back elbow. Reed hits a sit-out spinebuster followed by a Moribe Driver for the two-count! Scott is able to fight back, going for a triangle lock. Scott follows up with quick strikes and tries for a sunset flip. Scott evades a sit-down maneuver and hits the House Call for the 1… 2… 3!

Winner: Isaiah “Swerve” Scott

Following the match, Reed and Scott shake hands.

Cathy Kelly reveals that, at NXT TakeOver: WarGames, Matt Riddle will face Finn Balor. As a result, Riddle will be taken out of the WarGames match, Dijakovic taking his place!

Pete Dunne vs. Killian Dain

As Dain makes his entrance, he is blindsided by Damian Priest! After, Priest turns his focus to Dunne, who takes the fight directly to him! They brawl at ringside, Dain quickly becoming involved as well! This brawl is ultimately broken up by security, who struggle to restrain the superstars. Priest catches Dunne with a spinning heel kick and lays out a security guard with a crucifix powerbomb on a pile of bodies at ringside! Dain and Dunne slug it out, Priest landing a step-up senton on them! Priest stands tall before making his way up the ramp.

Backstage, Kelly interviews Mia Yim, regarding the previous attacks. Yim accuses RAW and SmackDown of said attacks but says she can handle herself. Dakota Kai approaches Yim, telling her there’s no hard feelings over being passed over for WarGames. Kai promises that she will have Yim’s back tonight.

Next week, Adam Cole will face Dominik Dijakovic in a ladder match; the winner will receive a WarGames advantage for their team!

The match begins with both competitors slugging it out. Shirai dropkicks Yim out of the ring and follows up with a suicide dive! Yim takes advantage and grabs the nearby ladder, sliding it into the ring. Shirai slides back in the ring and dropkicks the ladder into Yim’s face. Yim slams Shirai into another nearby ladder. Shirai dumps Yim to the outside once more and a tug-of-war of the ladder ensures. Yim yanks Shirai into the ropes. On the outside, Shirai kicks the ladder into Yim’s face. Yim retorts by slamming Shirai’s hand into the ladder! Yim kicks Shirai in the face and the action spills to the outside again.

Shirai misses with a ladder attack and Yim fights back with chops. Shirai tosses Yim into the barricade and lays into her with a series of strikes. Yim holds onto Shirai’s ankle, but Shirai kicks her off. Yim catches Shirai and slams her head into the steel steps. They roll back into the ring where another ladder tug-of-war begins. Yim takes possession of the ladder. They exchange suplex attempts, Yim slamming Shirai spine-first into the ladder as we go to commercial! The show returns to Shirai hitting Yim with a series of strikes followed by an uppercut. Shirai chokes Lee across the ropes with a headscissors. Shirai hits the tiger feint kick, an homage to Rey Mysterio!

Io Shirai lands a flapjack on Yim before slowly making her way to the ladder.

After an exchange, Yim hits a belly-to-belly suplex on Shirai on the corner ladder! Yim props up the ladder and starts to ascend. Shirai grabs onto the foot to stop her but is met with a series of kicks to the chest. Shirai sends Yim into the ladder, causing it to fall. Shirai sandwiches Yim in the ladder multiple times! Io goes to the outside to bring another ladder into the ring. Yim hits Protect Ya Neck! Yim picks up the ladder, but Shirai hits a springboard dropkick, busting her opponent open!

As a medic tends to Yim, Shirai sets up the ladder. Shirai starts to climb the ladder but Yim pulls her down! Yim starts to climb and Shirai German suplexes her off! Shirai lands the double knees in the corner and goes to the top. Yim catches her and they begin to fight there. Shirai headbutts Yim to the outside, which brings out Kai, who tends to her ally. Shirai lands a moonsault to the outside, crashing down on Yim and Kai! Shirai goes back in the ring to climb the ladder, but Kai catches her with a sit-out powerbomb! Kai rolls Yim back in the ring and she begins to make her way up. From out of nowhere, NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray rushes down, attacking Kai!

She soon enters the ring, tipping over the ladder, sending Yim crashing into the ladder on the outside! Ray helps Shirai up the ladder as the Genius of the Sky takes possession of the briefcase suspended above!

Shirai poses with Ray and Bianca Belair, two of her fellow Team Baszler members, in the ring. Shayna Baszler makes her entrance. Soon, she’s blindsided by SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley! After hitting her with a chair, Bayley plants Baszler face-first on the NXT Women’s Championship! The rest of Team Baszler runs off Bayley as this week’s episode of NXT comes to a close.
