#NEWS: MJF Announces Departure from Major League Wrestling

MJF took to Twitter to declare that, following last week’s Major League Wrestling tapings, he has departed from the promotion.

Having been part of MLW since late 2017, MJF has been a major part of the company. Not only has he been part of The Dynasty, one of the promotion’s leading factions, but he has achieved considerable success. In the summer of 2018, MJF defeated Joey Ryan to become the inaugural MLW World Middleweight Champion. Last year saw MJF team with fellow Dynasty member Richard Holliday to secure the MLW World Tag Team Championship from The Hart Foundation. MJF’s final match for MLW took place against Marshall Von Erich; the match in question will fair on a future episode of Fusion.

On Twitter, MJF announced his departure from the company. In character, he spoke highly on The Dynasty, saying that it would “live on….forever.” The tweet in question can be viewed below:

Since signing with All Elite Wrestling, the official announcement being made in January of 2019, MJF split his time between AEW and MLW. With the aforementioned signing, however, came speculation regarding his wrestling endeavors. Would he eventually become exclusive to AEW or continue to wrestle for MLW as well? Needless to say, suspicions were confirmed with this news. MJF has fulfilled his contractual obligations to MLW. Thus, he will become a full-time competitor for AEW.

Sutter’s Synopsis:

It will be different to watch MLW programming with “The Salt of the Earth.” One can argue, though, that this has been a long time coming. Love him or hate him, MJF is one of the featured players in All Elite Wrestling. Therefore, he will be required for events more often than others. Ergo, his departure from MLW should come as a surprise to few. This isn’t to say that The Dynasty will disband, however, especially with the new addition of Gino Medina. While MJF continues to thrive in AEW, The Dynasty will continue to provide MLW with “rarefied air.”
