Earlier this weekend, on Twitter, AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes announced another program in the promotion’s TV lineup. Starting Tuesday, All Elite Wrestling will present “AEW DARK.” Essentially, AEW DARK will be a program featuring matches that aren’t shown on Dynamite. The show will air on their YouTube channel and be hosted by play-by-play commentator Tony Schiavone.
Though this past Wednesday’s premiere episode of Dynamite showcased many matches, there were others that didn’t make the cut. These include SoCal Uncensored vs. Jungle Express, Darby Allin vs. CIMA, and a four-way match featuring Britt Baker, Penelope Ford, Allie, and Bea Priestley. These were held prior to Dynamite’s main card, so for those that wondered if these matches would be televised, it stands to reason that AEW DARK will showcase them to a wider audience.
More details regarding AEW DARK are likely to come as we approach the show’s YouTube premiere on Tuesday, October 8.

Sutter’s Synopsis: Less than one week removed from their debut on TNT, All Elite Wrestling announcing another program in its lineup is an excellent way to maintain both momentum and the interest of viewers.
Though AEW DARK is a new show, its premise isn’t terribly removed from what promotions created in the past. World Wrestling Entertainment, for example, aired Heat from 1998 to 2008. Over time, it developed into a platform that featured mid to lower-card talent, allowing them to wrestle and cut promos when they may not have been easily able to otherwise. Velocity, Jakked, and Metal filled a similar niche under the WWE banner.
For AEW, this announcement serves the main purpose of extending its range of content. Though Dynamite will continue to air on Wednesdays, in addition to regular pay-per-view events, the cliché “content is king” holds weight in professional wrestling. For those that wondered where some of their favorite stars were on Dynamite, AEW DARK is set to provide you with the action you desire.
