Independent Wrestling Weekly for 07/13/2020

The independent wrestling weekly news review for 07/13/2020 is back for another week. During the last week, we have seen more promotions gearing towards running shows with fans over the next few months. Over the week, we saw some fantastic matches added to several shows. We also saw UK promotions starting GoFundMe and working on deals with other promotions as they gear towards running shows within the UK.

Independent Wrestling Weekly for 07/12/2020

Thunder Rosa announced last month that she would be creating a brand new all-woman pro wrestling promotion, which will be based in Central Texas. Misson Pro Wrestling announced that they will be hosting their first show on Friday, the 18th of September 2020. Hell Hath No Fury will be taking place at Pinballz Kingdom, Buda TX. So far, Big Swole, Skye Blue, Alex Gracia, Baby D, Jenna Lynn, and La Rosa Negra. For more information about Misson Pro Wrestling and Hell Hath No Fury visit their website here. 

Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) will be hosting their next live event on Sunday, the 26th of July 2020, with GCW’s Homecoming Part 2. GCW’s Homecoming Part 2 will be taking place at The Garden Pier on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. The card for GCW’s Homecoming Part 2 includes Alex Colon vs. Zachary Wentz, Chris Dickinson vs. Calvin Tankman, Joey Janela vs. Yoshihiko, and a scramble match between Alex Zayne vs. Myron Reed vs. Blake Christian vs. Tre Lamar vs. Jordan Oliver vs. KTB.

Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) also announced they are preparing their next event for Sunday, 2nd of August 2020. GCW’s Keep In Touch will be held in Indianapolis. Tickets go on sale on Monday the 13th of July at 5 pm EST, you can buy tickets here.

Wrestle Carnival

Wrestle Carnival announced new producers in relation to both the Black Lives Matter and Speaking Out movements for their live shows. They stated they have appointed a “dedicated individual at our live events for talent to approach should they fall victim to abuse, racism, homophobic behaviors or any kind of abuse they deem to be offensive”, – Wrestle Carnival’s Statement. They also shared that any female fans experiencing problems at events can approach Jade Roberts at live events.

Wrestle Carnival continued their announcements this week, declaring that they have reached an agreement with Lucha Libre Barcelona. Lucha Libre Barcelona will be sending their top performances to Wrestle Carnival during events in 2021, while Wrestle Carnival will also be sending stars to Barcelona.

TNT Extreme Wrestling announced the ‘Keep It Locked Podcast’ hosted by one of TNT Extreme Wrestling’s own Simon Hill. You can listen to the podcast on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, and ‘anywhere and everywhere that provides top-quality podcasts!’ according to TNT Extreme Wrestling. The podcast will feature interviews with a number of TNT Extreme Wrestling stars as well as other wrestling talents from around the world.

OTT Wrestling Announcement

As mentioned earlier this week, Over The Top Wrestling or OTT Wrestling has released a press statement surrounding the appointment of a new talent relations department. Anne O Brien will lead the talent relations department, and her job will be to make sure talent are safe when at OTT Wrestling events. Anne O Brien will also work closely with Irish wrestling training schools to make sure they have the correct training and procedures in place.

OTT Wrestling is also taking further steps to discuss the issues facing the Irish wrestling industry. They have created a board of members who will meet monthly to discuss these issues and how to overcome them. The board of members include; wrestling school owners, coaches, and wrestlers.

Synergy Pro Wrestling hosted its first event with fans since the Coronavirus on Saturday, the 11th of July 2020. The event can be watched on Fite TV and donations were made towards the American Nurses Fdn. The card included Warhorse vs AJ, JD vs Deppen, LSG vs Jordan, and Macintosh vs. KIP.

Beyond Wrestling have announced their next event Two Weeks Notice which will be held on Sunday the 26th of July 2020 at The Garden Pier on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, NJ. Jordan Oliver and Myron Reed have both been announced as wrestling at the event.

RiSE with Go Fund Me

RISE Wrestling have announced they are running a GoFundMe as they require additional funds to put on new wrestling shows in the UK. The promotion has requested £1,000 as part of their ‘God Save The Wrestling!’ campaign. RISE Wrestling explained the reason behind needing the funds as they are struggling without any government support as lockdown restrictions are being lifted. The funds will go towards producing new innovative content, investment in new merch, and help the company create new income. There is also hopes that RISE Wrestling will be able to hold their 5th Annual ASCENT Tournament with a limited crowd later this year.

Paradigm Pro Wrestling’s Next event

Paradigm Pro Wrestling will be holding their next event on Friday, 24th of July 2020, at Sellersburg, IN called Heavy Hitters 2. The card includes Stephan Bonnar vs Matthew Justice, Tom Lawlor vs Calvin Tankman, Aaron Williams vs AJ Gray and Chris Dickinson vs Lee Moriarty. Heavy Hitters 2 will have fans in attendance but strict producers will be in place including, wearing masks.
