IMPACT Wrestling Announces Moving To Thursday Night

Late Thursday afternoon, IMPACT Wrestling announces that their flagship program on AXS TV is moving to Thursday nights. The 2-hour weekly show, currently broadcast on Tuesday nights, will be changing nights as of April 8th. In a statement via Twitter, the company described the move as “returning to their traditional time slot.”

In the accompanying press release, IMPACT Wrestling also announced the main event of the April 8th show. The inaugural IMPACT! on Thursday, April 8, will feature the IMPACT! match debut AEW World Champion Kenny Omega and IMPACT’s The Good Brothers – Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows – in a six-man main event against reigning IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann, former two-time IMPACT World Champion Eddie Edwards, and former X-Division Champion Willie Mack.

IMPACT Wrestling Announces Moving To Thursday Night

“IMPACT Wrestling has years of history airing on Thursdays, which was the night for high-energy, action-packed matches, starring some of the most high-profile stars in pro wrestling history,” said IMPACT Executive Vice-President Scott D’Amore. “Nothing is changing from that front when IMPACT! jumps back to Thursday nights.” D’Amore later added “The new home, once again, for must-see matches is Thursday nights on AXS TV.”

Accompanying the shift to Thursday nights, Before The IMPACT will move to the 7 PM timeslot. The hour-long preshow features matches, late-breaking news, and exclusive interviews.

IMPACT! Wrestling debuted on Fox Sports Net on June 4th, 2004, as the flagship program of then-TNA Wrestling.  In 2005, after a brief experiment with online content streaming, they negotiated a Saturday night timeslot on Spike TV. Over time, IMPACT!’s viewership grew, causing Spike to move the show to Thursday nights in April of 2006. Later that year, IMPACT Wrestling would move from 11 PM to the 8 PM primetime slot. In 2010 IMPACT moved to Monday night to compete with RAW but eventually returned to the Thursday night timeslot. In the turbulent years following their split with Spike TV, the show bounced around timeslots and networks, eventually landing on Tuesday nights on AXS TV in 2019.
