Dr. Wagner Jr Reportedly Leaving AAA

In a recent report from Wrestling Observer Newsletter, El Galeno del Mal himself has left AAA in Mexico. He was a legend in AAA. The veteran of thirty plus years was a perennial featured talent for the company. In particular, Wagner Jr was considered the main eventer for the annual featured TripleMania. At the moment details. as to why he left has yet to be announced. However, what has become clear is that he’s revealed his departure was to allow for him to pursue competition on the independent wrestling scene.

The report does also shares that his departure wasn’t on bad terms. In an age as though the only ill shared by some talent and promotions is ill will, Wagner Jr’s desire to separate himself from the promotion is to explore other professional options. AAA themselves also confirmed that Wagner Jr had left the promotion. Wagner Jr’s name after thirty years of competition continues to hold value today. His popularity in Mexico has transcended borders and age. Wagner Jr has competed for prominent North American promotions. For instance this past year he competed twice for IMPACT Wrestling. Last year, Wagner Jr competed not only for IMPACT Wrestling but for Major League Wrestling as well.

While not only the focal point for AAA, Wagner Jr along with the likes of Daga, Laredo Kid and Lucha Bros (Pentagon Jr and Fenix)

were among the faces of the promotion along with Rush. A change of direction and of place for Wagner Jr could prove to be all for the best. While the length of his departure has yet to be announced it is likely to be long enough to give Wagner Jr a good enough sense of the freedom the independent scene will give him.

With any walk of life, a change of pace can often be healthy for all involved. Distance from a place you had called home for so long can and hopefully will rejuvenate the former three-time AAA Mega Champion and Latin America Champion.
