In 2019, on February 24 in Everett Washington I had the privilege of attending Without A Cause’s fourth show, With Love, WAC XOXO. There was a spectacular line up for the show. One match in particular caught my eye. King Khash would be making his last appearance before heading for Japan to work with Zero 1. How long would he be gone? No one knew; thus, he was having a send off match with some of his fellow wrestlers form the Buddy Wayne Academy. It seemed like a great way for ring brothers to say farewell to their friend. Guillermo…

Jet Knight

There is one in every generation… a chosen one, if you will. A person who is inspired by the Muses and the artistry of their craft comes naturally to them. In 2019, with bone instinct and preternatural skill, a small few take to professional wrestling so quickly as Jet Knight (now known as Kevin Knight in AEW). With less than a year of training under his belt, he demonstrates the kind of polished performance we come to expect from someone with a decade of training and performance behind them. However, it didn’t simply come to him like a supernatural gift…

One of the great pleasures of routinely attending local wrestling promotions is the opportunity to be introduced to new talent. Then watch talent as they develop and grow. From time to time, you see someone who stands out for one reason or another. Perhaps they are exceptionally talented. Or, they have an outstanding gimmick. One of the more satisfying things to see in the industry is when someone stands out as unique, different, and imaginative. In a profession where it’s difficult to stand out from the rank and file, it is a pleasure to see someone burst out defying conformity…

Danika Della Rouge

On the independent scene, you see a wide range of commitment to the profession. Weekend warriors and hobby performers abound, some of them are even quite good. Others grind at a day job during the week only to pay the bills so they can pursue their real passion. They aren’t interested in wrestling in occasional shows and hitting the bar afterward with their buddies. They are here to do the work, pay their dues and shoot as high as their skill, talent and luck will take them. In 2019, Danika Della Rouge was, without a doubt, in the latter category.…

DEFY presents Brutalist DEFY Brutalist

What a night! This is perhaps one of the most impressive cards assembled in DEFY history and the show lived up to the anticipation and buzz it created with DEFY Brutalist. Tonight, reminded us all why we all love this murder dance we call Professional Wrestling! So, let’s get right down to it! DEFY Brutalist Tom Lawlor vs Brody King This crowd was beyond thrilled to have Brody King back at Washington Hall. While Tom Lawler also received a warm welcome, there was no doubt who the DEFY crowd was behind. It was Brody King all the way. This match…

DEFY presents Brutalist DEFY Brutalist

DEFY presents BRUTALIST. DEFY had originally had John Mox planned for the card for Brutalist; however, due to circumstances that are perfectly understandable, Mox had to bow out, at least for now. We wish him well and hope to see him back very soon! Our friends working behind the scenes at DEFY did not let us down as they had to formulate alternative plans. This was complicated further with our DEFY family in Canada, who remain behind a closed boarder due to the pandemic but are no less loved or forgotten. Brutalist is a card that exceeded the expectation of…

Mad Kingdom Presented By DEFY Wrestling

If you are a fan of Professional Wrestling, there was no better place to be on Saturday night than Washington Hall in Seattle. The folks at DEFY put together an incredible card. This card especially stands out when you take into consideration that nearly half of their card consists of our Canadian friends only a couple of hours north who are unable to cross the border due to the pandemic, including the reigning DEFY Champion Randy Meyers. On top of that, Eddie Kingston was unable to make it, and the Bollywood Boy’s couldn’t get their work visa’s set up in…

Tap House Rules

The Scuttlebutt Brewing Taproom is located at 3314 Cedar St in Everett, Washington (98201), tucked away in a vaguely industrial portion of the city. It has a gracious amount of parking, and there was a food truck out front with a taproom inside where beverages can be purchased. In the center of the large room with high ceilings was a wrestling ring surrounded on three sides by several rows of chairs. A long catwalk-like platform lead from the entryway into the facilities into the ring, which featured prominently in several matches. In the back of the taphouse, immediately behind the…

Parm Singh Mann

One of the nice things about being an observer of the independent professional wrestling scene is the opportunity to see new talent emerging from the various wrestling schools. These talents are beginning their transition from being students into professionals. Some slowly crawl onto the scene while others step out of that practice ring. They stand in front of the audience and make their presence known. This is Parm Singh Mann. Last month, at Without A Cause: I Love WAC, Steve Migs was rumored to have a mystery partner in a tag team match with The Bowlers (Chris Ross and Johnny…
