AEW IGNITE for 10/7/20 (Chris Jericho 30th Anniversary Show) | Preview

Welcome to the latest edition of AEW IGNITE for 10/7/20! This will be an exceptional edition of AEW Dynamite. It is the 30th Anniversary Celebration for Chris Jericho. It will be fun to see what tributes we will have for one of the world’s best professional wrestlers. If that wasn’t enough, we have three title matches as well. AEW is giving us a very stacked October. Let us see what they have in store for us this week’s AEW Dynamite!

Big Swole vs. Serena Deeb

It is great to see Big Swole back on AEW Dynamite. She hasn’t had a lot of screen time on the main show since defeating Dr. Britt Baker back at AEW All Out. This hopefully will be the start of more Dynamite appearances for this very talented wrestler.

Her opponent will be one of the newest AEW signee Serena Deeb. Serena had a great match on Dynamite at the beginning of September against NWA Champion Thunder Rosa. Serena Deeb recently picked up her first victory on AEW Dark. Can Serena take advantage of this big opportunity and pick up her first victory on AEW Dynamite?

FTR (c) vs. Hybrid 2
(AEW World Tag Team Championship)

FTR has been on a major roll since winning the AEW Tag Team titles at AEW All Out. They have picked up some significant victories over Jurassic Express and SCU in recent weeks. For this major edition of AEW Dynamite, what do they do for an encore? They defend their titles against Hybrid 2.

Angélico and Jack Evans haven’t had a lot of success in AEW. They missed months of action early in the Pandemic. Upon their return, they have only wrestled a handful of matches on AEW Dark. They haven’t been on AEW Dynamite in over eight months. It seems a strange choice for a title shot, but it is likely the best opportunity Hybrid 2 has ever had in AEW. Can they take advantage of it?

Brian Cage (c) vs. Will Hobbs
(FTW Championship)

It is pretty great to see the FTW Championship finally defended on AEW Dynamite. Brian Cage has been in need of a major feud since losing to Jon Moxley at AEW Fight for the Fallen back in July. Enter Will Hobbs.

Will Hobbs started as an enhancement talent on AEW Dark. It was certainly a major surprise then to not only see him in the Casino Battle Royal at AEW All Out but to be one of the final competitors. As a fully signed AEW talent, he will be getting a huge opportunity on Wednesday night. Can Hobbs, in his first-ever title match, pull off the major upset?

Chris Jericho & Jake Hager vs. Luther & Seprentico

This night is all about the “Demo God” Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho has had, arguably, one of the most remarkable careers in all of professional wrestling. His longevity and constant ability to evolve has allowed him to have the incredible longevity of a 30-year career. He has also picked an interesting tag team match for his 30th Anniversary celebration.

Luther, one of Jericho’s oldest friends, first had a match with him back in 1991. It will be interesting to see what he and Seprentico can do on such a big stage. It will be a genuinely nostalgic moment and a wonderful celebration of one of the greats.

Brodie Lee (c) vs. Cody (TNT Championship)
(Dog Collar Match)

Brodie Lee shocked the professional wrestling world when he defeated Cody and won the TNT Championship back in August. The Dark Order’s leader has destroyed everyone in his path since that fateful Saturday night. It was then certainly surprising when Cody returned a few weeks ago with his sights set on the TNT Championship yet again. But the type of match that Cody wanted for the rematch was the biggest shock of all.

The main event of Wednesday night will be the first-ever Dog Collar Match in AEW history. AEW has shown the brutality of Dog Collar matches of the 1980s. For a company that prides itself on professional wrestling history, they seem to be preparing us for some bloody moments on Wednesday night. It seems this feud deserves nothing less for a highly anticipated main event.
