AEW Dynamite IGNITE for 7/22/20 | Preview

AEW has just finished three straight weeks of pay-per-view quality shows. Can they keep the momentum going after Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen? It will be tough but AEW seems to be using this show to set-up the next pay-per-view, AEW All Out. Let us see what AEW has in store for us this week in the latest edition of AEW Ignite for 7/22/20!

We’ll Hear From Jon Moxley

Jon Moxley successfully defended his AEW World Championship at Fight for the Fallen. He has been defeating all comers the last few months since winning the AEW World Title at AEW Revolution in February.

The big question that needs to be answered is what comes next for Moxley and his title? We are less than two months away from the big AEW All Out show. Will this appearance be used to start to set up the next challenger for Mox?

Taz Will Appear

Taz was in a tough position last week at AEW’s Fight for the Fallen. He could have waited until Moxley damaged Brian Cage’s arm. But he made the tough decision to literally throw in the towel and save his client. It did come at the cost of his World title chance.

It seems Brian Cage wasn’t exactly thrilled. He pondered all week on Twitter if he should keep Taz as a manager. But later he announced that on Wednesday night they will have some “things to discuss and announce”. What could they announce? And what will be his next steps to try to get back into the World title picture?

MJF in Action!

MJF is in an interesting position. This will be his first singles match on AEW Dynamite since his June 11th victory over Billy. He did lose his last tag match at Fyter Fest Night One on July 1st but he will be quick to point out that loss was actually Wardlow’s fault.

As MJF gets back into singles action, can he keep his undefeated singles streak going? Another big story to follow is his partnership with Wardlow. He seemed to have some tension with Wardlow after the tag team loss. Can they get on the same page on Wednesday night?

Cody’s TNT Championship Open Challenge

Is Cody turning to the Dark Side? On last week’s Fight for the Fallen, Cody fought against a very tough challenge from Sonny Kiss. The surprising thing about that victory is that Cody attempted to cheat to pick up the win. He tried to use an exposed turnbuckle against Sonny Kiss. Will Cody continue to use any advantage possible to retain his TNT Championship?

The TNT Championship Open Challenge returns this week. Lots of wrestlers outside the AEW promotion have been trying to get a match on social media. This will be only the second time Cody won’t know his opponent on Dynamite in advance. How will that affect Cody and will he attempt to cheat again to gain an advantage?

Hangman Adam Page vs Five (w/ Mr. Brodie Lee)

Hangman Page takes a break from drinking to get back into singles action. It has been an interesting few weeks for one-half of the Tag Team Champions. He has successfully defended the tag titles with Kenny Omega against Best Friends and Private Party. He has also watched as his tag partner attacked Marko Stunt last week. Can Page focus on his opponent this week with all these outside distractions?

His opponent is Five or Alan Angels of the Dark Order. Five wasn’t having any success before joining the Dark Order. Since joining the group, he has picked up a pair of victories on AEW Dark. We know he will have some support from Dark Order on Wednesday. Can Page say the same about his Elite friends?

Hikaru Shida is looking for an AEW Women’s Title opponent. This week provides an interesting opportunity for two relative newcomers in the Women’s Division. Diamante has been a regular on AEW Dark but this will be her first chance on AEW Dynamite. Can she take advantage of this unique opportunity?

This will be a return for Ivelisse to AEW. Her only other appearance was in a Battle Royal at last year’s AEW All Out. She is most famous for her strong work in WWE Tough Enough and Lucha Underground. Can this be a big showcase for this talented wrestler?

The Inner Circle vs Jurassic Express

Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle are likely in a very bad mood. Jericho was looking to put his feud with Orange Cassidy behind him last week when he was in for a shocking surprise. Chris Jericho and the Inner Circle were drenched with gallons of orange juice thanks to Cassidy. That funny image made Jurassic Express laugh at Inner Circle’s expense backstage. That disrespect led to this week’s match.

Jurassic Express is coming off a very tough loss in a physical match against the Elite last week. Can they be prepared to face a rested and angry Inner Circle? It will be fun to see these four great competitors on Wednesday night square off.

Falls Count Anywhere
The Young Bucks vs The Butcher & The Blade

The Young Bucks were victims of an attack by The Butcher & The Blade just a few weeks ago. Since that time, these two teams have crossed paths on multiple occasions. The biggest moment so far being the eight-man tag match when The Butcher & The Blade’s team defeated the Young Bucks and FTR. It is time for some revenge on Wednesday night.

The Falls Count Anywhere stipulation will add a unique element to this match. Who knows who could get involved in this tag team match? FTR seems to be waiting in the wings. How will they get involved in this big match? It will be one of the many fun elements to follow on Dynamite.
