AEW Dynamite Diatribe for 11/20/19 (Allin vs Moxley)

This week’s episode of AEW Dynamite comes from Indianapolis with plenty of action on the card. The main event involves Jon Moxley against Darby Allin. In addition, AEW World Champion Chris Jericho will be making a “major announcement.” What will this entail and how, if at all, will it impact the world title picture? All this and more will be detailed in the Dynamite Diatribe!

Nick Jackson vs. Rey Fenix

Jackson starts things off with a headlock before they exchange shoulder tackles. Fenix lands a quick dropkick. The action spills to the outside, where both men exchange moves, followed by a double dropkick to the ovation of the crowd. Chops are exchanged and Fenix lands a series of springboard headbutts followed by a swift arm drag off the top rope! Jackson lands a spin kick followed by a corkscrew splash to the outside. Fenix evades and hits a cutter on the mat, eliciting “This is Awesome” chants.

Back in the ring, Fenix lands a top rope senton! 1… 2… Jackson kicks out! Jackson evades a walking top rope kick from Fenix and returns fire with a bulldog, followed by a running knee strike for a two-count of his own. They fight to the top rope, where Jackson lands a big Frankensteiner! 1… 2… Fenix kicks out! Both men exchange moves, including superkicks that make their mark. Fenix nips up following another superkick and hits one of his own, the crowd getting hotter!

With Jackson on the ring apron, Fenix lands a top rope hurricanrana to the outside! Jackson evades a moonsault attempt and follows up with a series of kicks. Fenix catches Jackson with a cutter! 1… 2… Jackson kicks out! The fight spills out onto the apron, where they exchange kicks once more. Jackson hits a stalling German suplex on Fenix on the apron! Jackson rolls Fenix back in and hits a spiking facebuster followed by a Canadian Destroyer! 1… 2… Fenix powers out! Jackson transitions into the sharpshooter! Slowly but surely, Fenix grabs the bottom rope.

Jackson holds Fenix in a tombstone position, but Fenix rolls him up for a two-count. Followed by a series of kicks, Fenix lands the Fenix Driver for the 1… 2… 3!

Winner: Rey Fenix

Post-match, Jackson extends his hand. Fenix ignores it and makes his way up the ramp.

Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. vs. Hikaru Shida

Both competitors lock-up to begin. Baker lands a shoulder tackle but Shida nips up. They exchange arm drags and sweeps. Baker goes for Lockjaw but Shida rolls out as we cut to commercial. The show returns to Baker and Shida brawling on the outside. Shida sets up a steel chair and lands a launching knee strike on Baker! Baker counters a suplex back in the ring and yanks Shida down to the mat. Baker hits a sling blade followed by a pump handle facebuster for a two-count. Shida misses a running knee in the corner and spills onto the apron. Baker nails a pendulum DDT! 1… 2… Shida kicks out!

Shida catches Baker with a running knee in the face! After a forearm exchange, Shida hits a fireman’s carry backbreaker for a two-count. Shida with the penalty kick! Baker cinches Lockjaw onto Shida! Desperately, Shida makes it to the ropes, but Baker quickly follows up with a neckbreaker! 1… 2… Shida kicks out! Shida catches Baker’s leg and pokes the eye, rolling her up for a close count. Shida hits a falcon arrow! 1… 2… Baker kicks out! Shida is finally able to finish off Baker with a running knee strike for the 1… 2… 3!

Winner: Hikaru Shida

We cut to a video package featuring Dark Order. A young man riding a subway watches a video on a nearby monitor. The motivational clip distorts to where Dark Order imagery flashes onscreen. The speaker instructs the viewer to join the Dark Order. “We… Will find you.”

Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal (Final Two Will Compete for the Diamond Ring Next Week)

Christopher Daniel disguises himself as Pentagon Jr., giving Chuck Taylor the chance to eliminate him quickly! Sonny Kiss and Billy Gunn exchange backside gestures. MJF takes the opportunity to dump Kiss out of the ring. Everyone gangs up on Gunn while MJF and the lethargic Orange Cassidy watch on. Gunn eliminates Jimmy Havoc and dumps out Mark Stunt. Havoc rushes back in and attacks everyone in sight with a staple gun before being restrained by AEW officials. This is where the show cuts to commercial once more.

During the commercial, Shawn Spears interfered to eliminate Joey Janela! Gunn unloads on everyone until Cassidy stands up to him. Cassidy lands a number of “devastating” kicks until he’s dumped out by MJF! He backs up into Gunn, who he shoves in a show of disrepect. Gunn retorts with a Fame-Ass-Er and tosses MJF over the top, but he holds on! Wardlow makes his way down to the ring, distracting Gunn. Hangman Page takes advantage and tosses Gunn over the top rope! The match is down to the final four: Page, Taylor, Kip Sabian, and Jungle Boy.

Taylor is eliminated by Sabian after interference by Penelope Ford. Jungle Boy hurricanranas Sabian out of the ring! Page and Jungle Boy are the final two! Wait, MJF is back! He pulls Jungle Boy off the apron! MJF was never eliminated! Officials separate Page and MJF. They will meet in Dynamite Dozen finals next week for the Diamond Ring.

Accompanied by Jake Hager, Jericho makes his way to the ring for his “major announcement.” Prior to his announcement, however, Jericho says he was fined for the damage he caused last week following his loss to Scorpio Sky. Jericho struggles to apologize for his actions, so he elects Hager to say “sorry” for him, which he does. Jericho says that, next week, he will receive the thanks he deserves from everyone in a celebration. Jericho proceeds to run down Indianapolis to boos from the crowd. Jericho bids the crowd adieu before they’re interrupted by SCU!

After the trio make their way to the ring, Sky commends Jericho for his apology. However, Sky says Jericho forgot to mention that he was pinned by him last week, serving Jericho his first loss in AEW. “You Got Pinned” chants follow. Even Sky’s high school crush contacted him and they’re going out next week! Sky says that, as a Jericho fan, he didn’t mean to embarrass him. Jericho says that Sky’s high school crush gained a lot of weight since then, which Sky responds with, “I like big butts and I cannot lie.” Jericho says that while Sky is a great athlete, he isn’t in the champion’s league. Jericho says that he will face Sky in a match next week!

Daniels and Frankie Kazarian add fuel to the fire, Jericho becoming increasingly angrier to the point where he makes next week’s match for the AEW World Championship!

Sky and Jericho shake hands, with Sky saying that he has waited 15 years for an opportunity like this. He will turn “Le Champion” into “Le Bitch,” which leads to a brawl between SCU and The Inner Circle! SCU is outnumbered 5-to-3! Daniels and Kazarian are handcuffed to the ropes. Michael Nakazawa and Brandon Cutler attempt to intervene, but they are quickly disposed of. Jericho lays out Sky with the Judas Effect, standing tall with the AEW World Championship.

Jungle Express rush to the ring to help! Marko Stunt and Jungle Boy are quickly disposed of. Luchasaurus stands off with Hager. Slowly, Hager backs away and leaves the ring.

Luchasaurus (w/Jungle Boy and Marko Stunt) vs. Peter Avalon (w/Leva Bates)

Before the bell, Avalon takes the mic, referring to Luchasaurus as a fossil. From the opening bell, Luchasaurus lands a hook kick followed by the Snake Bite for the quick 1, 2, 3!

Winner: Luchasaurus

Proud-N-Powerful (Santana and Ortiz) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen)

Santana and Kassidy start things off. Santa tosses Kassidy onto the mat and taunts him before we go to commercial. Returning from the break, Ortiz is in control of Quen. Santana and Ortiz double team Quen in the corner. Quen starts to fight back but is caught with an avalanche Russian leg sweep followed by a DDT from the opponents! Santana lands a bridging German suplex on Quen that Kassidy breaks up. Santana goes for the stalling suplex, to which Ortiz makes the tag and takes Quen in the same stalling suplex position. They continue to exchange tags, holding Quen up all the while. Ortiz finally lands a falcon arrow on Quen for a two-count.

Quen starts to fight back but Ortiz cuts him off with a double back rake. Ortiz locks in a Boston crab and tags in Santana, who locks Quen’s upper half in a clutch position. Santana transitions into a rollup, which Quen kicks out of. The show goes to commercial with Quen still on the defensive. Returning from the break, Ortiz has Quen locked in a bearhug. Finally, Quen escapes and tags in Kassidy, who takes the attack to Proud-N-Powerful! Kassidy lands an Asai moonsault on Santana and hits the Code Red on Ortiz!

Quen goes for the Silly String, but the damage done to his back proves to be too much. Santana and Ortiz double team Kassidy in the ring for a two-count. Pump kick into the cutter on Kassidy for another two-count. Santana takes the loaded sock behind the referee’s back until Nick Jackson intervenes to swipe the sock! Private Party hit Gin and Juice on Santana for the 1… 2… 3!

Winners: Private Party

Post-match, Jackson is attacked by Sammy Guevara on the outside! Dustin Rhodes, cast on his arm and all, takes the fight to The Inner Circle in the ring! Jackson and Rhodes stand tall with Private Party in the ring.

Following this segment, the show cuts to a promo by Kenny Omega. He says that he has lost track and pinpoints his loss to All Out, against Pac, as the source of his recent troubles. Next week, Omega will meet Pac in singles action, a match Omega considers the start to his path to redemption.

Darby Allin vs. Jon Moxley

Allin’s entrance starts with a video of him putting himself in a body bag labeled “MOX,” which is carried across a mosh pit. As Moxley makes his entrance, Allin dives and hits Moxley fast out of the ring! The action spills into the crowd, Allin stays on Moxley with a flurry of punches. Moxley catches Allin and tosses him over the barricade and back to ringside. Moxley tackles Allin into the ring post and follows up with a belly-to-belly suplex on the mat! Once both men are in the ring, the opening bell officially sounds.

Allin dropkicks Moxley in the corner and goes for a crossbody.

Moxley blocks the move and hits a dropkick into the corner of his own. Moxley launches Allin across the ring and poses in the corner before we cut to commercial. Returning from the break, Moxley hooks in a cloverleaf before transitioning into an STF. Allin makes it to the ropes. With surprising agility, Allin hits a running cross-body, the move causing both of them to ultimately fall out of the ring. Allin lands a series of blows to Moxley’s face from behind before sending him into the steel steps. Allin and Moxley make their way to the top rope. Moxley pushes Allin off and down to the mat below. The damage has been done to Moxley’s fingers, Allin targeting them at different points throughout the rest of the match.

Moxley hits an inside out release suplex before kicking Allin to the outside. Moxley rolls Allin back in and grabs the body bag. Allin responds with a big tope onto Moxley! The action returns to the ring, where Moxley lands a big clothesline on Allin! Moxley stuffs Allin into the body bag before stomping away on him. The official attempts to keep Moxley away as he unzips the body bag to release Allin. Allin hits an overhead stunner, but Moxley returns fire with a swinging slam. Allin counters the Paradigm Shift and rolls up Moxley for a two-count.

Moxley catches Allin’s Coffin Drop attempt with a sleeper! Allin rolls up Moxley! 1… 2… Moxley kicks out! On the top rope, Moxley bites the face of Allin before hitting an avalanche Paradigm Shift! 1… 2… 3!

Winner: Jon Moxley

Moxley celebrates in the ring as this week’s episode of AEW Dynamite comes to a close.
