Those who have watched NWA Powerrr have certainly seen David Marquez. While Marquez might come off as being just another interviewer or broadcast journalist, as Bobby Heenan liked to say, he is a significant player on the American wrestling scene. UWN & NWA Announce Mega Collaboration Next Month with Primetime Live.
Marquez is the hands-on owner of the United Wrestling Network, which has been around for close to a decade and produces shows from Hollywood, San Francisco, and Arizona.
He announced on his Facebook page just hours ago that on Tuesday, September 15th at 9 p.m., a new weekly 90-minute show entitled United Wrestling Network’s Primetime Live. The show will be produced in collaboration with the NWA. It will feature talent from the fed, as mentioned above, the UWN, and other organizations across the sports entertainment landscape.
This is excellent news for the NWA, which was shut down by the pandemic and was further harmed by the sudden departure of minority owner David Lagana under allegations of conduct unbecoming. As stated by David Marquez on his FB page, NWA talent will be featured prominently on the weekly pay per view showcase.
UWN & NWA Announce Mega Collaboration Next Month with Primetime Live
Marquez has had a long association with the NWA. Many of its top draws had appeared on Championship Wrestling From Hollywood. They include; Nick Aldis, Thunder Rosa, Jazz when she was Woman’s champion, and Willie Mack in his pre-IMPACT days. Mack appeared, in fact, as NWA National champion.
It will be interesting to see how Primetime Live will fare as a weekly PPV affair. The show will run through the second hour of Impact, which makes for some stiff competition. There is a surfeit of free wrestling programming on television and social media. In troubled economic times, spending on non-essential items can be adversely affected.
That being said, there is a vast talent pool to be enjoyed and discovered. David Marquez produces high-quality programming that is appealing to a very broad base.
A bold move on his part, especially now. But as the adage goes, no one ever made it to the end of the road to success by walking on eggshells.
