This past Friday, Ring of Honor held its Gateway to Honor event. The event involved a series of matches but one, in particular, was quite notable. PCO defended his ROH World Championship against Mark Haskins and RUSH. In a series of strikes that were as ferocious as they were intense, RUSH put down the man that isn’t human in PCO to regain the Ring of Honor Championship.

The match comes on the heels of the night before Bound by Honor event which saw PCO defend his Ring of Honor World Championship against Dragon Lee. While he was successful on this night the following night didn’t see the same success. What should be noted however from RUSH’s championship was that other factors were in play here.
RUSH’s win wasn’t simply defeating PCO and Haskins without any aid.
At one point NWA World Heavyweight Champion, the National Treasure Nick Aldis also gets involved and strikes PCO with the championship. These actions certainly contributed to giving RUSH the advantage. A staggered dropkick to a prone PCO sitting in the corner was all that was needed. All that was remaining was for RUSH to finish PCO off with a count of three.
With the win, RUSH is now a two-time ROH World Champion. The win adds another feather in the cap for La Faccion Ingobenables in Ring of Honor. Once considered the most hated man in CMLL, RUSH along with his Los Ingobenables extension in ROH are certain to dominate the promotion. RUSH’s win comes a little after two months of him losing the championship to PCO at ROH’s Final Battle on December 13th.
This win also does leave speculation as to what will be next for all parties involved. This surely can’t mean the end of any issues with Marty Scrull’s Villian Enterprises, does it? Will another member of Villian Enterprises contest for the championship? Does this set up a potential match between Aldis and PCO? Could Aldis and RUSH battle each other in a potential championship versus championship matchup down the road? While those questions may be asked what remains certain is that RUSH has overcome any obstacle set before him. Now that RUSH has regained the ROH World Championship and the line begins behind him for all challengers. With the likes of Amy Rose, Kenny King, and Dragon Lee behind him there is no telling what fans will be in store of from him.
