205 Live Landscape for 10/11/19 (Tozawa vs Kendrick)

205 Live after having one week off and they happened to have a new Cruiserweight Champion in the meantime but features the main event of Akira Tozawa and The Brian Kendrick. Lio Rush became the new champion on this past week’s episode of NXT and discussed how he feels like a kid again. When it comes to 205 Live, however, it was certainly an action-packed night. Todd Phillips and Aiden English debuted as the new announce team for 205 Live and formed a great team in the process. It felt rather fresh with some incredible wrestling as expected.

Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch vs Drew Gulak & Tony Nese

“One Two”, aka Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch returned to 205 Live to take on the now-former Cruiserweight Champion, Drew Gulak and Tony Nese. As expected when you read these names, it was a match full of physicality. While both Gulak and Nese were former champions, the advantage in this match went to “One Two” who have been teaming for much longer. Physicality was said earlier as they were pulling out all the stops to try and capture the victory.

Tony Nese hit a beautiful 450 Splash on Danny Burch in the corner for a near fall. Just seconds later, Gulak planted Burch again with a devastating Brainbuster which would be broken up by Oney Lorcan as he dove off the top with a diving headbutt. The match found its end when Burch and Lorcan planted Gulak with their Assisted DDT finish to win the match and leave Gulak reeling even more.

Ariya Daivari vs Chris Bey

Ariya Daivari was on the microphone as he played with the crowd making it clear he was much better than them. Chris Bey was a local talent of Las Vegas looking to make a splash of his own. Unfortunately for Bey, it wasn’t his kind of night as Daivari dominated the match, making quick work of Bey as he hit his disgusting Lariat finish to pick up the win on the night as he prepares to get back on track.

No Disqualification Match: Akira Tozawa vs Brian Kendrick

Former friends, now bitter enemies Akira Tozawa and Brian Kendrick main event 205 Live with a No Disqualification match that had fans on their feet all night long. Both men instantly welcomed Kendo Sticks into the match after weeks ago where Kendrick attacked Tozawa and Jack Gallagher with the same exact weapon. Tozawa stepped on the Kendo Stick Kendrick had, not allowing him to utilize it than smashing Kendrick with it. Kendrick would not be on defense for long though as the match went on, Tozawa attempted a suicide dive and was met with a steel chair that was thrown at his head by Kendrick.

Physicality ensued as both men continued to go back and forth before Tozawa finally got the upper hand on his former friend. To the glee of the fans in attendance, Tozawa introduced a table in which he placed Kendrick on. With the table set on the outside, Tozawa climbed to the top and hit a beautiful Senton onto Kendrick, putting him down and possibly out. He rolled him back into the ring and proceeded to place a chair on him so he could go for one more Senton and the win. Out of nowhere, Mike Kanellis appeared and pushed Tozawa off the top rope and proceeded to hit him with a rolling cutter. He placed Kendrick on top to give him the victory and it showed his true colors.

While we don’t know what the future holds in 205 Live, we do know that it will be continued to be some of the best in-ring shows of the week and that is all fans can ask for. Isaiah “Swerve” Scott seems to be on his way back to 205 Live, which adds some more excitement if the future of the show involves the likes of “Swerve”.
